Why don't my cornflake nest cakes ever work

They nerve work, butter, chocolate and golden syrup. Always goes hard never covers all the cornflakes

That recipe makes gooey cornflake cakes. Just use chocolate, use lots and mix well!

I also use just chocolate and they always turn out fine.

Ditch the butter and syrup.

Less cornflakes and more stirring should result in coating all the cornflakes (I use rice krispies, so slightly different)

Yes, just chocolate and don't be stingey. A bar won't make many cakes.

Just use chocolate. And if its nest cakes it should be Shredded Wheat bashed up to look like twigs.

I use your recipes and when the chocolate and syrup go to a hard paste I add a small dash of milk which makes it all lovely and shiney - then add the cornflakes

Could you be over heating the syrup mix and turning it into toffee? I do equal weights of butter, syrup, sugar and cocoa, heat very gently just until the sugar melts then add whatever cereal you want a bit at a time, usually less than the recipe states so they stay nice and gooey.
