Son burnt fingers

83 replies

JanetandJohn500 · 14/04/2020 17:40

My son was burning some papers for me. He is usually VERY sensible and has been allowed to burn things before (also sought neighbour approval before you all start going on 😂).
He managed to catch the fire pit with the tips of his fingers and now has blisters forming on the end of his fingers. He has been sitting with them in a bowl of cold water for about an hour. Is there anything else I should do?

Curry Grin

It's tricky isn't it, as there may well be some good advice amongst the curry recipes but it's hard for laypeople to discern which is good and which is bollocks. If some people need to be told by MNHQ not to send money to strangers, perhaps they should remind people about taking life threatening medical advice...

(I'm the worst for not even seeking RL medical advice myself so probably not the best person to occupy the high ground Blush)

Yeah the burns advice really irritates me. Same with my local parent’s fb group where any burn on a child immediately has ‘put some aloe on it’ in response. No. Follow the NHS advice.

I burnt my finger tips at the weekend and they blistered. Hurt for a day but now they’ve dried up and are peeling. No sign of infection all healing well. Didn’t go to a and e just used some pain relief and creams. Unless it’s a really awful weeping blister I don’t see why it needs a and e? Especially when hospitals are busy right now as it is.

@Cloudyapples thank you for demonstrating my point so nicely.

Perhaps even read the whole thread before giving incorrect advice? OP has been and it did indeed need medical attention as strangely enough, the DS's fingers, and burns, aren't exactly the same as yours!

Cloudyapples · 16/04/2020 11:07

Sorry @WeBuiltCisCityOnSeeingSouls I almost can’t hear your from up there on your high horse.

I didn’t say they were the same as mine, I said I didn’t go as mine didn’t weep/look infected and that if this was the same case then I don’t think it needs a and e because they are busy enough.

My most deepest apologies for missing op’s message that she has already been.

@JanetandJohn500
How are DS fingers?

JanetandJohn500 · 16/04/2020 17:11

@Sissymate2 all good. Dressings now much simpler and no pain at all. Thanks for asking x
