Chocolate or sweets?

MIL sent the DC a basket of sweets for Easter. DS is in his element. DD is like me and really doesn't like sweets that much, she would much prefer chocolate eggs. So, sweets or chocolate? 'I would never let processed sugar pass my lips' types may wish to leave this thread Grin

Both Blush

Chocolate. Especially dark chocolate, or chocolate orange. So many sticky sweets just smell horrible to me

I should have done this as an AIBU with a poll.

I just had a chunk of my inch-thick Hotel Chocolat Easter egg, dipped into tea to make the outside melty. Bloody gorgeous. Bloody foam bananas have nothing on this. (DH loves foam bananas but is also not above stealing my Easter eggs. Git.)

Chocolate. Sugar without fat is just wasted calories.

Ladyglitterfairydust · 14/04/2020 19:44

Love both, but if forced to choose it would probably be chocolate.

bruce43mydog · 14/04/2020 19:50

Chocolate 😊

Been eating rations from my stock cupboard, and would just kill for a huge butter iced cupcake. I am literally drooling at the thought.

It’s between chocolate and cake for me, sweets don’t even get a look in.

Anon3742577 · 14/04/2020 20:59

Chocolate, apart from 1st trimester of pregnancy when chocolate made me feel sick but Haribo were the bomb.

redeyetonowheregood · 14/04/2020 21:12

Sweets, definitely, in particular Waitrose or m&s toffees

SallyWD · 14/04/2020 21:30

Chocolate! There are very few sweets I like.

Bearlyclearly · 14/04/2020 21:32

Chocolate, sweets are weirdly too sweet and sugary

mamaduckbone · 14/04/2020 21:51

Chocolate, always. There are no sweets that I couldn't live without.

minimummum · 14/04/2020 22:37

Sweets. Haribos and chews

TheStarryNight · 14/04/2020 23:14

Sweets. I had to learn to like chocolate.

VetOnCall · 15/04/2020 00:00

Chocolate every time, I'm not a fan of sweets at all. Sadly most chocolate in Canada is crap, but I've recently found a place that imports Tony's which has made me extremely happy. It's by far my favourite chocolate brand.

KrakowDawn · 15/04/2020 00:04

Chocolate toffees!

KrakowDawn · 15/04/2020 00:07

Vet- that has made me sad, about Canadian chocolate. Canada does lots of things right, how did they get chocolate wrong? Particularly when many of them are from British and French heritage, both of whom have fantastic chocolate (or at least did in the past).

VetOnCall · 15/04/2020 00:34

KrakowDawn there isn't really any widely-available 'Canadian' chocolate, it's all American stuff (like Hershey's which tastes like vomit). You can get Lindt bars and some Cadbury's and Nestlé stuff in most supermarkets, as well as Maltesers, M&Ms etc. but most of it is American stuff and it's nasty.

On the plus side though, ice cream here is a big thing and there are amazing independent ice cream stores all over 😍
