Tesco delivery/ price changes

I have a delivery coming later today.

Just went in to look at it (because I placed the order super early Saturday and I couldn't remember whether I'd included a couple of things or not) and some of the prices are changed. A couple of items which I'm sure were still on offer until today are now showing at full price. I'm normally really careful to check the dates are still live at the time of delivery.

On my delivery email the price of those items is the lower amount. On my order on the website it's showing the higher price.

Obviously I can't amend the order now. Some of them I'll have the item anyway but at least one I was only buying because it was half price...now usually I would return it to the delivery guy and get a refund but as I understand it in the current situation you can't hand anything back to them?

Does anyone know how it works or what to do? Or do I just have to suck up the fact I didn't recheck the prices last night before the cut off?

Thank you!

I don't know regarding prices but you can still return items, you just have to put them in one of the bags your shopping is delivered in and the driver will take it.

I don't know about the price change, but I do know you CAN hand substitutions back to the driver if you don't want them.

Ah ok - I'm sure I'd read somewhere that you couldn't return the items to them anymore. Good to know you still can.

Lots of Tesco offers change on a Tuesday.

Because you have an order booked for today, the price will be the one you expect.

The website is showing you the current higher/post offer price (even on your basket page), because it recognises that you can't book another delivery in the timeframein which the offer is valid.

See if they've taken the money from your account (it will go out sa the delivery leaves the store), it should be as you expect.

Drivers aren't taking anything back. You have to call customer services.

I had a substitution
The other day. I didn't need it as was totally not a substitution but a whole different item. The driver refunded the item and let me keep it.
Take a look at bill and discuss with driver.
He'll either say can't be returned or he'll take it back or may give it to you anyway and not charge!

Price and offer changes usually happen on a Wednesday, so the prices you see on the website today will be for delivery tomorrow at the new price. It shouldn’t affect the price you pay today.

Homemadearmy · 14/04/2020 14:46

Find it usually tells you on the checkout page if you have missed offers and you can bring them to the top. Then it give you the option of booking another slot or you can remove the item.

Thanks for all the replies!

It's the price if I go into 'my orders' on the website which is higher - but that is showing as just a guide so I'm presuming my order hasn't been picked yet.

I'll keep an eye on it, check the delivery note when it gets here and go from there I think.

Drivers are taking things back, I handed a substitution back just half an hour ago!

MrAlyhakinsMassiveYacht · 14/04/2020 15:56

I had some subs yesterday and the driver yelled from the pavement that I had to keep them, he wasn't taking anything back and if I didnt want them I'd have to call Customer services.

BarefootHippieChick · 14/04/2020 16:13

My driver definitely said yesterday things can be returned with him in bags. Obviously each Tesco must have a different policy.
