thumb injury

Yesterday DD10 thumped her brother and hurt her thumb. I thought it would get better overnight (she didn't hit him particularly hard) but today it still hurts and is swollen (on the fleshy part). She can bend it though. What can I do?

It's really easy to hurt that part of your thumb, I've done it myself and it got better on its own.
You could probably strap it up so she doesn't move it and wait to see how it is over the next few days.
