What's this on my DS face?

My DS2 got too much sun on Friday - I put sun cream on him but it didn't appear to work.

He was red cheeked so I thought he had sunburn so the pharmacist gave me aloe Vera after sun.

Now 4 days later his cheeks look like this - and they seem to be getting worse. Is this sun burn?

What's this on my DS face?

The photo isn't clear enough, but it looks a bit like prickly heat. Or the light thingy that I can never remember the name of.

We have to use the ultrasun suncream and be very careful in the sun. Sun hats and make sure the suncream is taken off every night.

Hope he's OK.

Does he have a similar shape anywhere else on his body as it looks like ringworm to me but unusual on the face.

Hard to get a decent picture. It's basically like ache spots. Just on his cheeks but both cheeks. Thinking I might have to print photos and take to a pharmacist. Don't know what to do for the best to be honest as can't take him anywhere to be looked at in this current situ!

PLE. polymorphic light eruption. That's what I can never remember. It looks like that to me.

Did you happen to try a different brand of suncream? My Ds has very sensitive skin and he would break out in this when his skin is irritated especially his face

Thanks @DonPablo do you have experience with it? Do you have to see a doctor? Where do you get the ultra sun cream?

Hey, no, we didn't see a Dr. My ds was about 7 the first time it happened. We were in France and I don't think he'd ever had such strong sunlight on his body before. He was slathered in suncream. My MIL was with us and recognised it. She suffers from it too. She said that regular suncream seems to block the pores and make it much worse. She had some ultrasun with her. So we tried that and it helped. We like the clear one. There are other brands that are similar, like the P20 stuff.

When he's having a flare up, we give him antihistamine syrup and apply antihistamine cream and that helps. But we always shower off the suncream at night. And it happens way less now we know what it is and how to avoid it. (ultrasun. Hats, shade where possible, wash off suncream, antihistamines etc).

Ultrasun is expensive. Waitrose. John Lewis, amazon all sell it. Possibly marks and spencer too. And boots. But it really works.
