what part of the Medela swing breast pump is this?

Posting in chat as the breast pump topic is fairly quiet.

I am expecting DC2 in the next few weeks, I have got out my Medela swing breast pump but I cannot work out what this part is for or why I have it! It is not the part that you use whilst pumping as this looks different and I have checked the manual.
I have attached a pic, does anyone have any ideas?

I’m pretty sure that is the part for pumping. Looks exactly the same as what I used.

The bit that screws onto the bottle.

It screws onto the bottle and the flared bit is the part that goes over your nipple to pump the milk out.

It does have an instruction leaflet with it.

That's the main part.

Breast part and bottle part.

Thanks for the replies! I thought so too, but then in the manual the one which has the wire hole at the top is shown (and has a yellow integrated bit inside which you can't remove) and that's what the valve/membrane thing attaches to which does come off for cleaning. There is nothing about this one in the manual or what I can find online. I have attached a couple more pics comparing the two, on the spare parts of the Medela website they only show the one on the left and not the one on the right which doesn't help me either shop.medela.co.uk/product-category/spare-parts/swing/

Did you have a second pump, rented a hospital grade one maybe, they look like slightly different models

Lu1u · 13/04/2020 13:24

@suddenarborealstop no I never bought another pump or had a manual one. Very strange, I'm wondering if one of my friends left them at my house by accident during the new born days and I scooped them up thinking they were mine.

I've just looked at mine, the one on the left is from the swing the one on the right is from the hospital grade pump, birth look like the two you have left to right I think

Both not birth

Lu1u · 13/04/2020 13:52

@suddenarborealstop thank you so much. I used the hospital grade pump once whilst on post natal and must of just put those bits in my bag at the time! Mystery solved
