Measuring children's feet at home

InkogKneeToe · 11/04/2020 20:02

Typically my child who grows like a weed has grown out of their shoes in the middle of a deadly pandemic Hmm

Clark's shoe measuring gauges are like rocking horse shit (unless you want to pay £50+ on eBay, which I do not).

Startrite do a printable measuring gauge but he's a toddler and I do not envisage that to be a fun and enjoyable family activity.

Does anyone know if the generic foot measuring gauges are compatible with Clark's shoes? In my mind I would assume they are, because a centimetre is a centimetre, but given that it's not particularly easy to do parcel returns etc. currently, I'd rather not balls it up and have to return packages etc.

I measured my toddlers feet with the Startrite one, but I’ve just ordered some cheap £10 shoes in case it’s not quite right and I’ll get him properly measured when the shops are open again!

I'm now in the same situation as you. What did you do in the end please?

DH took both DC to Clark's yesterday. He was instructed in how to use their gauge and check fit by a sales assistant. Our local Clark's is doing appointments for children's fittings if that's an option.

I used a generic one and bought both mine clarks sandals and pumps and they were fine.

I bought the same shoe in the next size up!

I ordered a Clark's one from their website for £10. It arrived 3 days later.

Used the startrite one with my toddler, it was fine. Bribed him with cheese so he stood still in delight. Just got some cheaper shoes from Sainsbury's and the fit is good.

I did this too! Crazy that people were wiping to pay up to £50 on ebay for second hand one when they're available new from Clark's for £10. Hmm
