Things to do whilst in lockdown? Getting bored now!

I know, I know, lots of people wish they were at home rather than out at work, but just being totally honesty - I am now incredibly bored.

I actually still work from home part time and am obviously homeschooling the kids so I'm surprised to be feeling this way. I'm just finding I have so much more time when you take away school runs, formal homework, ferrying around to all the activities, social obligations etc. DH is home much more too so sharing the load. I honestly don't know what to do with myself!

In the past 3 weeks I have:

  • watched Netflix
  • listened to crime podcasts
  • decluttered and organised most of the house
  • mowed the lawns
  • deep cleaned
  • planned my wardrobe for the next 6 months
  • walked an hour a day
  • ordered hanging baskets
  • replenished my makeup drawer

I have nothing left.

Could we have a thread filled with ideas? Perhaps you could share what you've done so far that's been rewarding, what you hope to do etc

I started a 1000 piece Jigsaw last night.

Gaming. The sims, world of Warcraft, tropico are all fab games.
Diamond painting (I think it’s called) where you stick the tiny gems on a pattern.
Cross stitch

You could come paint my fascia boards or fence. I'll stay inside & just wave :) ?

lookingformybrain · 11/04/2020 11:28

I've been painting, reading, meal planning and learnig to dance with YouTube

I've been doing lots of craft things with my 4 year old. We've been making play dough, slime and paper maché easter eggs. I've trained her out of nappies at bedtime and off my boob. Also been teaching her a bit more and trying to get her school ready with phonics, numbers and motor control.

iklboo · 11/04/2020 11:32

I've been

Catching up on reading,
Playing hidden object games
Brain test / puzzle games
Colouring

Plan to get a cross stitch kit and hoop. Not sure how successful it will be with two nosy cats.

In the evenings we've been watching stuff on Disney+ (The Mandalorian), Starzplay (Doom Patrol, Pennyworth, Mr Mercedes), started watching Friday Night Dinner for the first time - hilarious antidote to what's going on.

Did a big shop and meal planned for the next two weeks.

Become my personal tidying coach?
Because I need to do these things and don't know where to start.

My daughter has emptied one of her book shelves and decided what she doesn't want. That is as far as it goes. She now has piles books all over her bedroom floor.

Bluebooby · 11/04/2020 11:36

I wish someone could come and tidy and declutter my house.

I have been playing games and baking with dd. Taking dd for walks.
Trying to draw landscapes.
Watching Netflix.
Cooking.
Reading Mumsnet.
Cleaning.
Exercising.

Embarking on a 1000 piece jigsaw today with the kids.

Wotrewelookinat · 11/04/2020 11:42

I’ve been doing a tapestry, started relearning a language I started decades ago (youtube), listening to podcasts, exploring new recipes, watching Chris Packham on Facebook every morning.

Husband has done lots of gardening, planted seeds, now building a new fence!

wheresmyhairytoe · 11/04/2020 11:48

I've been learning a new language, reading, colouring, doing puzzles, planted potatoes and sorted out the clutter.
I'm making sure I'm outside every day and just enjoying the slower pace of life.
I was so close to needing to be signed off work with stress so this has been very good for me.

ilovecakeandwine · 11/04/2020 11:56

I think you've done more than me .
I've filled my days by
Online workouts
Go for run/walk
Cleaning
Washing / ironing
Mow lawn
Baking
Food shop 1 day a week but takes a couple of hours with the queuing.
Zoom chats
Mumsnet / tictoc / Facebook
Reading
Watching tv
Stopping my teen dc eat all the biscuits
Sounds a lot really Confused
I also want to do
Painting the bathroom door bit of touch up in front room.
Clear out shed
Clean car
Sort out dc old toys / clothes
Clear out old clothes to sell on eBay .

@isittheholidaysyet to be fair, I declutter and organise all the time anyway as we have a small house and no garage. But have definitely finished off areas I'd been meaning to (kids craft, gift wrap, winter gear etc).

Just start with the area that annoys you the most! It's very satisfying Smile

I’m making activities for my toddler

millionaireshortie · 11/04/2020 12:06

This is all really helpful. I'm going to get my notepad out now and create a boredom list. That'll pass 10 minutes won't it Grin

I forgot to add I've been doing daily Pilates - highly recommend. So gentle and relaxing but still feel the burn and my tummy muscles are showing for the first time in forever.
