What is the optimum amount of calories to lose weight?

I've been on a diet for 7 weeks now, just over. I've lost 20lbs in that time and I've plateaued these past few days.

I generally stick to 1100 - 1300 calories a day. I don't like to go too low as it's almost impossible for me to sustain but the losses have really slowed and I still have over 2 stone to lose at least!

I don't over eat carbs and I keep my diet as healthy as possible so it's not 1200 odd calories of chocolate! I also do 12k steps a day

So .... should I drop down calories more? Keep at it and trust in the process? Or something else?

I don't want to do keto or low carb - very tricky for me as a non egg eating vegetarian!

Well done on your weight loss.

For me it's 800 kcals a day but I have a freakishly slow metabolism Hmm even though I exercise a lot. I'm not a veggie but don't eat much meat; I find eating lentil-based dishes helps keep my weight down as I poo three times a day. Sorry if that's TMI Blush

Stick with what you are doing. You say you've plateaued but in the last few days which is really not that long. I don't lose consistently across a month, so a few days wouldn't worry me.

Keep going and keep drinking lots of water! 20lbs is a fantastic loss.

Thanks for the advice. I'll stick with it - no other options really! - and hopefully it'll get moving again.
