She was in a home for some time with dementia. Developed a respiratory issue (possibly covid19 but not sure) and passed away.

She hasn't recognised me for some months and was on the other side of the country. I did visit her when her dementia was less advanced but not recently.

Feeling sad but know she is at peace.

Sorry for your loss Flowers It's always sad regardless of whether you know it was "right" and that they're at peace.

Words feel inadequate from me, a stranger. I didn't want to see your post & stroll on by.
💐💔

Bluewavescrashing · 10/04/2020 08:22

Thank you. I have no living grandparents now. It's slightly scary as now my parents are the oldest generation.

I won't be able to go to her funeral and say goodbye as she had 5 children (my mum and her siblings).

Thank you for the kind messages. I'm wondering I could do something with the DCs to remember her, like plant some seeds or something.

So sorry for your loss OP. I lost my Nan to dementia too, awful disease. Take it easy, look after yourself & your family. Your Nan is now at peace. Flowers

Planting something is good. You can talk about her, play music she liked. When my dear Nan died she donated her body to science so there was no funeral as such, but we planted a tree for her. I think about her every day. She was very confused in her last years, so I felt that we'd been losing her for a long time, and while I knew she was ready to go, her death still floored me. Be kind to yourself.

I am sorry. My mom is going through the same thing.
It is beyond heart-breaking.

Mlou32 · 10/04/2020 09:20

I'm.reslly sorry for your loss. My grandad passed away from complications due to dementia. In a way, I was glad he was gone, as he never would have wanted to live like he was living. He is at peace now.

Bluewavescrashing · 10/04/2020 09:22

Flowers for you @Mlou32
