Lamb Neck Fillet Recipes?

ColaPip · 09/04/2020 15:58

Hi - I've unearthed around 1kg of lamb neck fillets from the freezer. I rarely cook lamb and don't really know what to do with it!

Does anyone have a slow cooked lamb recipe I could try with neck fillets please? Or any easy lamb recipe really!

Thanks

I love neck fillets and sometimes just roast them. Very nice slow cooked with pearl barley, rosemary, garlic and carrots

DS made a delicious lamb biryani last week with lamb neck. It had halloumi (rather than paneer) in it too.

Yum, yum!

Oh yum. I may see if I can get any with our next food delivery, not had them for yonks.

I slow cook them in foil (seasoned with a little olive oil) and then serve them with minted new potatoes and green veg. Delish.

I seem to remember Jamie Oliver doing something nice with lamb neck fillets but can’t remember what. Sorry that’s not terribly helpful!

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/04/2020 17:13

Hot pot is what I'd make, v comforting.

I’d make Lamb Tagine with those.
Or Lamb Rogan Josh.

Lamb neck makes delicious curry (I'm no expert - just whatever paste jar I have in the cupboard with whatever veg I have hanging around...) - my favourite cut of meat for it.

AdaColeman · 09/04/2020 17:22

Slice them into collops, light fry some onion and garlic and keep warm, turn up the heat a little and add the lamb, turning frequently till cooked to your taste. Add some herbs if available.
Meanwhile make some salad (as available) and warm some pitta breads so they can be cut in half and opened into pockets.
Fill the bread pockets with salad, cooked onions and lamb, and top with some dressing, yoghurt & mint or French dressing, or Caesar salad dressing all work well.
Messy to eat but delicious. Wine Wine

Stick em in a tagine or curry. Low and slow.

marigoldsmarigolds · 09/04/2020 17:29

Lamb tagine - there is a good food recipe, but it needs ras al hanout which I appreciate is not usually to hand Smile apricots, chick peas, tinned toms, sweet potatoes and leave in the slow cooker for the day - yummy

Delia online has a lovely lamb neck fillet recipe with flageolet beans, which I used to make regularly. I'm guessing flageolet beans are like hen's teeth at the moment though!

ColaPip · 09/04/2020 22:26

Thank you all. Lots of ideas. Love flageolet beans but don't fancy my chances of getting hold of them!

Will make a lovely lamb rogan josh in the slow cooker.

1kg lamb leg or neck diced
8oz sliced onions
Tin toms
1tsp turmeric
1tsp chilli powder
1tsp coriander
1tsp cumin
Fry meat, remove from pan add spices, fry for 1 min, add meat add onions, fry for 5 mins stirring. Add toms and about 100ml water. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 90 mins on low/med heat or in slow cooker on low for 7/8 hours or until meat is tender, just before serving add 1tsp Garam masala and 3 tbls single cream (or yoghurt).

@Alwaysfrank has it! That's what I was going to say. Haven't made that delia recipe for years!
