Friday and Monday or Monday and Tueday?

Every year dm asks me this question about Easter bank holiday weekend and what days my work place closes.

The office - obviously I mean this symbolically at the moment - has always closed Good Friday and Easter Monday and as I've worked there for 10 years I don't really understand why she thinks this will change.
But I've never worked or heard of any office or business that closes on bank holidays stay open on Good Friday and close Easter Monday and the day after. When I mention this to her she always says "well some places do"

Has anyone come across this or did my dm once work somewhere in the 60s that was the only place that did this (highly likely)? [ confused]

(disclaimer: I know lots of people work bank holidays)

I was discussing this with my Dad yesterday.

It's always been Friday and Monday wherever I have worked. Always Monday and Tuesday where he has worked.

It's interesting that different sectors and different regions seem to do it, the East Mids thing fits as she's from Leicester but even friends in that area don't have Mon and Tues off.

I honestly thought it was just a one off place she's worked once, but it seems it's not that unusual.

We lived in the West Midlands I was civil service and had Friday and Monday off but DH worked in manufacturing and he had Monday and Tuesday.

He said it was something to do with stopping and starting factory lines.

Yeah, the company where my DF used to do Mon & Tues as the long weekend, not the Friday. Worked well for some, less so for those with a DP who had Friday/Monday.

@TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet Yup... JLR have a lot to answer for. Both my parents are what I call 'JLR Lifers' and every year for the last 20 years my mum has asked me if I have Easter Tuesday off....

My workplace is currently closed but we’ve always had the Monday and Tuesday off.

My husband's work always close Easter Monday and Tuesday. They only work half day on Fridays so just work until lunchtime on Good Friday.

Regarding my earlier message I got it the wrong way around- good Friday is a bank holiday and not a public holiday which is why bin collections etc stil happen and why so many companies are able to be flexible with closing either Friday/mon or mon/tues 😁
