Not happy in new job

I am really not enjoying my new job; been there 3 months and my boss is a control freak. It's their family business and I get that it's their baby, I really do but this is becoming demoralising.

Everything they ask me to draft, they rewrite Every. Single. Thing.
I can write a great letter - succinct and to the point but the boss amends everything I write, even though it contains all the points they want making and is well written. 🙄

In my previous job I was given a fair bit of autonomy, not sure I can stand this much longer. I think the boss sees me as their PA, although that's not my actual job title.

How best to approach, or should I just move on?

Move on. You’ll never get someone who micromanages like that to change, they won’t see the way they manage as an issue!

Hmm, I think you are right!

Before changing jobs, have a polite chat with your employer and point out the idiocy of his ways (nicely). Point out that he is adding nothing to the situation and making unnecessary work for himself. If he doesn't change then leave and say why.

I'd like to do this but not sure they'll take kindly to hearing it! Grin
