I'm in the process of being diagnoses with endometriosis - over the last 2 years I've had 2 investigative ultrasounds - one was both external and internal, the second was just external (to my enormous relief!).
The first one was really very early on, before endometriosis had even been bought up as an explanation for the pain - it was actually to see if my copper coil had perforated my uterus, which would have explained the pain (it hadn't).
The second one was about 2 months ago, and was to rule out cysts.
After the first one, the pain I'd been experiencing dropped off almost completely and only returned gradually again after a few months. I didn't link it to the ultrasound, and did begin to wonder if the pain was somehow psychological until it crept back up again.
Again, I've had the ultrasound and have gone from pain so severe i've almost been hospitalised to almost no discomfort at all.
Has anyone experienced similar?
What little I can find online suggests that ultrasounds can be used as pain relief, I have a vague memory of having one rubbed over my knee when I dislocated it once
