I think I will, ptumbi, they were delicious.
Bagels is my next yeast project I think Grin

KenAdams · 18/04/2020 10:40

Haven't read the thread but pau bhaji is great for using up veg. You can use anything.

SegregateMumBev · 18/04/2020 11:00

Made Jack Monroe's microwave brownie. Instead of jam I used Jersey blakc butter, memories of a fabulous weekend last year. Lovely warm spice flavour.

@Weedsnseeds1 DH is a sourdough maniac.

He made bagels a few weeks ago. They were amazing!

Ninkanink · 18/04/2020 12:23

We had blueberry pancakes this morning, to use up some of our milk that’s a little beyond drinking/hot drinks stage, and also to clear the last of the frozen blueberries to make a little more space in the freezer for shopping arriving today (still compulsively 🤞🤞🤞 that I’ll get everything that was on the list).

Also planning a cake and maybe some scones, and a lasagne, to finish off the milk.

What recipe did he use Collision?

Furble · 18/04/2020 13:12

Wow Weeds the croissants get a gold star they look incredible!

We also had crepes this morning to use up the last of the old milk. With lemon and sugar, yummy!

We’ve just had firecracker pulled beef brisket (from the freezer) sandwiches to use up the last of the coleslaw with homemade wedges and salad (DH had to do a small local shop for milk this morning). Lovely treaty Saturday lunch.

Oh that looks awesome. We’ve got a packet of bbq pulled pork in the fridge that I’m going to do next week and I’m really looking forward to having burgers. We’ll have it with wedges and coleslaw too!

@Weedsnseeds1

Modern sourdough recipe book says DH

Ninkanink · 18/04/2020 13:50

Just had my email from Morrison’s and yay, there are only a handful of missing items and of those fresh limes and frozen garlic/ginger paste portions are the only two I’ll really miss. However we already have some lime wedges in the freezer as well as frozen ginger, and there’s lots of fresh garlic coming, so we’ll be okay. And yay, we’ll have lemons again!!

4 or 5 subs, all of which I’m happy with, including a bigger chicken than we ordered, which is never a bad thing in my book!

OMG I’m actually so excited about our groceries coming...😆

Thanks Collision, I don't have that but I will try Google. It looks a nice book to have though, I'm tempted to order it!

cricketmum84 · 18/04/2020 19:40

Sad cauliflower has gone into w curry tonight. Yoghurt that went out of date on the 16th has been turned into my amazing 2 ingredient flatbreads. Haven't been secretly mouse-nibbling in the corner of each one as it came out the pan 😂 honest....

Furble · 18/04/2020 19:51

Hehe cricket I was the same when we did homemade naan a few weeks back!

Excited for your shopping to arrive ninka and I know exactly how you feel! I was like a child at Christmas when my DH returned from Sainsbury’s last weekend.

We had baked gnocchi for dinner. Used up lots of odds and ends from the fridge, celery, carrot, last of a jar of kalamata, a pepper.

Loosely based on this recipe, the baby wolfed it down and looked very cute covered in it! www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/gnocchi-tomato-bake

Xiaoxiong · 18/04/2020 19:55

Well I misread the recipe I was making tonight for lamb meatballs and missed the EXTRA HOUR of simmering they need...so the kids have been fed fishfingers in front of the NT Treasure Island broadcast, and DH and I have an extra hour to get slightly too squiffy on empty stomachs.

We had some lovely jacket potatoes for lunch - we've all been missing fish so we piled on some hot smoked salmon flakes (the cheap offcuts - I buy them and freeze them), creme fraiche (eked out with plain yoghurt), dill from the windowsill, and lumpfish roe to be extra luxurious.

Weedsnseeds1 · 18/04/2020 19:58

xiaoxiong I'm drooling!

Cottage type pie, with excess mixed root mash from last night

DH managed to pick up some salmon fillet on his walk this afternoon so we had that for supper - I hadn't really realised how much I've been craving fish. Have just remembered that I had some chicken defrosting in the fridge. Its been defrosting for 2 days - will it still be OK to eat tomorrow (been in the fridge all that time)? If so I'll probably do it first thing and have it cold with salad as that came in the veg box and needs using up.

Weedsnseeds1 · 18/04/2020 22:29

Londonmummy chicken will be fine if your fridge is correct temperature.
I now havd a mental image of your husband stumbling across a lump of salmon in the middle of the pavement.
Years ago, when I lived in Wimbledon my cat came strolling in with a whole, raw Dover sole!

midwesteaster · 19/04/2020 02:44

Oh goodness, air fried potato peelings are delicious.
I will never throw them away again.
I can't believe I have thrown away 20 years worth.
The whole family loved them.
Thanks for that idea.

Made this last night - super tasty if anyone else like me bought a pack of yummy orzo when it was the pasta everyone else rejected in the great pasta clear out at the supermarkets

www.nobiggie.net/lemon-chicken-basil-orzotto/

Furble · 19/04/2020 09:35

Pegase that looks delicious! We’ve also got Orzo left to finish off.

My priority items to finish today are:
Homemade apples sauce, two bananas, defrosted pack of sausages, some creme fraiche, some double cream, and lots of leftovers!

I’m thinking of making a sausage ragu with some of the sausages and bulking it out with veg and lentils.

The apple sauce and banana are destined for some muffins probably.

Not sure about the dairy. I’ve not much of either just the ends of the pot that I don’t want to waste. Was thinking of trying this recipe for supper with the other half of the sausages www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/pommes-braytoises

I’ve also got a decent amount of pulled BBQ beef brisket leftover. Any ideas of how to upcycle it other than in rolls? (We had that yesterday and Friday). It was defrosted so I can’t freeze it.

Have a lovely day everyone.

SegregateMumBev · 19/04/2020 09:50

Hit me with your pesto ideas, I've half a pot left.

sueelleker · 19/04/2020 09:51

Tacos?

magnarocks · 19/04/2020 11:05

For the leftover beef brisket, burrito bowls - just all sorts of lovely burrito fillings in a bowl with salad.

We had pulled pork bowls last night with salad leaves, chopped beetroot, cucumber, tomatoes, lots of homemade guacamole, wholegrain rice cooked with black beans, chilli, garlic, thyme and cumin. And some grated cheddar on top. It was a feast. 🤤

ptumbi · 19/04/2020 11:19

leftover pesto - I'd make tomato soup and chuck it in there. Or (as I did the other day) a lentil meat-less loaf with sundried tomatoes and peppers and other Mediterranean flavours and pesto running through it. Or I think you canfreeze it in ice-cube trays?

dinner tonigt is chicken thighs with mango, limes, peanuts, chillis, rice - all in one. With carrot-cake muffins (need to use the old carrots) and my Oaty Fruity Jammy flapjack pudding (trademark)!! Grin
