Choir singing by zoom?

Has anybody done a group session by zoom? I've been using it for remote teaching, meetings and exercise classes and hike to try it with my singing group but wonder if it will work with everyone using microphones at the same time.

If it doesn't work well can anyone suggest something else?

I have heard the problem is the lag time. So you won't all be singing together. I had friends try karaoke over it and they said duets just don't work.

no zoom really won't work - multiple microphones add lag and distortion, you can only have one active at a time.

microsoft teams works better but there are still issues.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like zoom definitely won't work. Has anybody had success with anything else?

I have watched this video a few times to understand sound on Zoom, I’m not sure if he has further videos that can help

Afraid there is no solution to this at the moment.
Zoom, chime, whatsapp, facetime, skype, hangouts, teams, etc etc all have significant lag which means singing together a total cacophony! If you have a leader with a loop machine that is one way to all do some singing together. They can record and play back multiple voice parts immediately, and you can sing along. Or, you can al record your parts separately whilst singing along to a backing/prompt track and then get someone to patch them all together with music editing software.

With my choir we are doing singalongs on zoom just for the social contact really, choir master mutes is all and plays the music and we sing but no one can hear us, unmutes us between songs to say hi. There are about 80 on some sessions! Is nice to keep in touch but when we all try and sing at once is like a load of cats!

Our chorus are using Zoom for rehearsals but sadly we can’t all sing at once. We have a chat then the director mutes is all while we warm up and then sing through our material. It’s a bit strange and unsatisfactory but better than nothing.

Same as the two above, we mute ourselves then sing along with the MD, it's more of a social occasion than anything else. Sadly there isn't yet a platform without a time delay.
