Tesco Methylated Spirits Stained My Bath!

Azandme · 07/04/2020 21:05

So today I decided to reseal my bathroom. First 'big' job since DH moved out.

Used Tesco methylated spirits to wipe down, as instructed on the sealant remover pack - and now I have purple stains on my bath!

Any ideas how to remove them please?

I'm stupidly upset and angry with myself for not getting an allegedly simple job right.

Have you tried using a cream cleaner?

Azandme · 07/04/2020 21:14

I haven't, but I'll het some and give it a go. Thanks!

Bleach?

Azandme · 10/04/2020 21:20

It's plastic.

Toothpaste

Try toilet cleaner... it removes weird stains on sinks so might work. Leave for a minute then wipe

Other clear alcohol? Probably should have bought clear meth spirit.

Cream cleaner may scratch plastic. Bleach should work. If not, try limescale remover.

Meths is colourless and odourless. The awful smell and colour is put in to try and out people off drinking it. So your bath has reacted to a dye. Try Barkeepers Friend.
