What can you hear through your windows?

We're hearing lots more birds, there are more coming to our garden to be fed now - I think a lot of people must have run out of bird food but we buy a big sack a couple of times a year.

We've got more squirrels too, or maybe we are just noticing them more.

We've got a motorway about a mile away, the wind must be in the right direction as I can hear the traffic - I'm surprised it's still audible, there is that continous hum from it but I thought it'd be much quieter.

Birds too. Currently a lawn mower too.
Quite peaceful and the sun is lovely.

BournvilleGreen · 07/04/2020 12:21

Forklift trucks whizzing around and their little beep beep sounds as they reverse. Birds cooing. There's a background hum that could be an industrial mower somewhere too.

There were owls hooting and calling all evening yesterday Smile

YewandOak · 07/04/2020 12:21

Birds. The waterfall for my pond. No traffic noise. So peaceful.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/04/2020 12:22

Lots of birds and the motorway here too. The latter isn't too surprising- I think the noise from lorries carries more than cars, and there's plenty of those working.

No planes, it's surprising how often even in the countryside there's a drone from overhead.n

A male cheffing.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 07/04/2020 12:23

Birds, lots of them, someone’s got a lawnmower going and earlier heard the unmistakable whir and bottle chink of the milk man’s van going down the lane.

Felicitycity · 07/04/2020 12:23

Chaffinch

Felicitycity · 07/04/2020 12:24

Not cheffing. Blummin autocorrect.

MrsGellar · 07/04/2020 12:25

Birdsong Smile.

vampirethriller · 07/04/2020 12:27

Magpies, children laughing, a tram on the main road.

goodthanks · 07/04/2020 12:28

We are lucky and have a family of deer living behind our garden. Beautiful to watch at the best of times but we're loving it just now.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/04/2020 12:29

A male cheffing.

Ah, so not a lunchtime BBQ?Grin

Guttersnipe · 07/04/2020 12:31

Traffic. Something continuous like an angle grinder. A pigeon.

I live on the main road into a small market town. Honestly, sometimes it feels like nothing has changed here.

ParkheadParadise · 07/04/2020 12:34

Dd telling DH not to move, she's in charge🤔

ErrolTheDragon · 07/04/2020 12:35

Chiffchaffs!

Giggorata · 07/04/2020 12:35

Birds, distant sheep, occasional dog bark, children's voices, tractors.
The rasping sound of DH wire brushing the gates, rather unwillingly, it has to be said. 🙂

TheMandalorian · 07/04/2020 12:39

My very noisy children playing. For some reason they have to shout instead of talk normally (any tips gratefully recieved).
An equally loud blackbird.
Various other birdd and bees.
The neighbours washer.
Wind in the trees.
Other families playing.
It's nice.

Fucking Virgin Media digging up the pavements. They started at 7:30am 😑

Martysmarvellousmeals · 07/04/2020 12:45

Tractors, grass cutting loads of birdies!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 07/04/2020 12:48

We have the door wide open and I can hear birds, some dogs barking, a still saw, some farm machinery, birds, an engine, someone's radio, an occasional child and some people talking.

YewandOak · 07/04/2020 14:18

We had that a few weeks back. The workmen here were a pain in the rear!

BlackeyedSusan · 12/04/2020 12:02

I can hear an Easter service throught he wall to the next flat.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/04/2020 22:42

I can hear the wind. I don't think it's exceptionally strong, but it's coming from an unusual direction. We mostly get it from the northwest (back of the house), this is, according to the met office, East north easterly.

SingingSands · 23/04/2020 13:35

Right now from my front bedroom window I can hear some blackbirds singing, blue tits tittering, and some blooming annoying drilling! Like a very loud dentist's drill, it's really making me cringe!

I'm just going to pop down to the kitchen for lunch - that's at the back and hopefully I won't hear the drilling!!
