Is this normal pregnancy?

I’m 22 weeks pregnant and got tested for a urine infection, it come back negative. But I cannot leave the toilet due to constantly needing to empty my bladder. Sat on the toilet for 5 hours today. My midwife has said it’s normal and just get on with it. Did anyone else get this? Did it last their entire pregnancy? It only just started for me but I cannot sleep at al because of it. Haven’t slept in 3 days now

That doesn't sound normal!

I'd talk to your midwife again, being really clear about the time you're spending and the impact it's having.

5 hours? I wouldn't be happy with that. I would ring your maternity unit triage line instead and see what they say, I would think that indicates a bladder scan.

Definitely doesn’t sound normal to me

Is it that you have the urge to go or are you going?

I went through a phase like this around 20-21 weeks. Constantly felt like I needed to go. In actual fact it was pressure on my bladder making me think I needed to go, but I didn't. My pee was dipped and came back fine too. I wasn't spending five hours on the loo though, I just kept going to go and not much coming out unless I didn't go for a couple hours at a time.

I'd definitely speak to them again, but if it's only just happened hopefully baby is just lying awkwardly and the pressure goes soon. I'm 25 weeks now and much more comfortable now in the bladder stakes than I have been all pregnancy!

Drink more water so you have something to come out when you're trying op. Sounds dreadful.
