My 5 year old has been ill with covid symptoms now since 18th March. Today his temp has reached a high of 40.5. He absolutely will not take calpol. We have tried everything, believe me. He has sensory issues, and there is no way we can think of to get it in him. He can taste it in any food or drink (not that he eats or drinks much), he cannot be bribed or forced and we're at our wits end.

He was actually seen by the gp on the 2nd April, all they care about is that he is self isolating (which we are, obviously).

I am also ill with covid symptoms, and the stress is definitely making it worse.

I looked at the thread about official advice for sick children and it didn't make me feel any better about it Tbh. I don't know what to do

@bluebluezoo

My mum remembers (fortunately I don’t) me being pinned down by 3 adults and antibiotics being syringed in whilst I was hysterical.

After that it was tablets. She can’t remember how old I was, I wasn’t at school though and I started that at 4.5, so probably about 4 or younger.

I can swallow multiple huge tablets now at a time without water.

Hi I know this is an old list but found it after searching as I have the exact same problem with my DD (5) who also has Covid currently. I don't mind not giving her Calpol/Nurofen for a temp but the problem we have is that if her temp gets very high she starts vomiting and can't even keep fluids down. This has happened many times with various illnesses. She then can't keep the Calpol down even if we do manage to get a bit in. What would you do in this situation?
