I'm trying to decide which to get. Does anyone use either and can give the pros and cons of them?

I’ve got a Firestick but can’t get now tv on it so have just ordered a Roku.

Chromecast all day long. Fire sticks are ridiculously slow and you can cast pretty much anything but fire need amazon to have a contract with whatever you want to watch

We've had a Firestick, which broke after a few months, replaced by a Now TV stick that came for free with our subscription. That was better but still a bit glitchy amd doesn't work with Prime, so I ordered a Roku as that can stream everything apparently. It hasn't arrived yet but it gets good reviews.

I have a chrome cast. I don't like that it doesn't have a remote control of its own because my phone is always dying! It literally just casts things from your phone to the TV. So you also need th e space on your phone or tablet for the apps you want to use on the TV.
Does the job tho I suppose. I'm used to Sky which I preferred

Chromecast. We've got 2 and would be lost without them! Basically pretty much anything you have on your phone/tablet you can cast onto the tv. I've got Netflix, Prime and the Disney plus app on my phone, then I just cast whatever I want to watch to the tv. Can also do iplayer, youtube, videos on facebook etc. My husband has the same apps on his phone, so he can cast to a different tv. Makes life a lot easier for us.

So, probably a daft question, but, with the chromecast, do you have to stay on the app (say Disney+) while it's casting to the TV or can you still play games while watching whatever is being cast to the chromecast?

Firesticks are a nightmare. We have bought 2 remotes for ours at 30 euro each and they don't work. There is an app which takes forever to work and we can be sitting there for 5 minutes trying to change the bloody channel

Can use you phone for other things whilst casting to Chromecast.

Ghostlyglow · 05/04/2020 21:11

I love my Chromecast. You can use your phone for other things once it is casting and you can also use your TV remote to pause, if you need to. You just need to disconnect using your phone (you can just switch off with the TV remote, but it seems to be better if you disconnect from the phone)
Only problem at the moment for me is WiFi is a bit unstable at the moment (cos everyone is on it all the time, I guess). But yeah, get a chromecast Smile

Oh good. Chromecast it is, then.
