I've been watching A place in the sun a bit this week, what else is there to do at home... And the participants always seem to flock to the big cities, which seem just the same as British cities but with much better weather.
It made me wonder a bit, what's life like in Australia outside of the big cities? In mining towns and suchlike especially, or outback towns? I've read a few novels set in rural Oz and they gave the impression that's it's hard going and certainly not for everyone.
