How long for a 111 callback?

Think my 6 year old has tonsillitis, temp 40, sore throat and can see white patch on right tonsil. Spoke to them at 7:20pm and they said a clinician would call back.
I know they're exceptionally busy, I just want to know if I can give him any extra nurofen for temp - he has now had the max dose for 24
hours. Or whether I could get a prescription for antibiotics without him being seen. This is his third bout within 10 weeks.

Do you have paracetamol or calpol. You can use paracetamol as well as Ibuprofen but not at the same time, read the advice here on the NHS site
www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/childrens-health/can-i-give-my-child-paracetamol-and-ibuprofen-at-the-same-time/
It says you can’t keep switching unless advised to do so
Hope that helps

Dodi, unless you're medically trained please do not give advice over ibuprofen under the current circumstances.

Thanks for responses and sorry for delay.
I had tried paracetamol but it didn't work. Well I thought it didn't work as his temp was still high 30 mins afterwards.
111 called me back and said I need to give the paracetamol longer to work, like an hour.
Also said they agree it seems to be tonsillitis again and that I shouldn't wait for his temp to spike - I should start him on a regime in the morning where I alternate them and that should control it better.
Makes perfect sense and with hindsight that's why I should've done as soon as he got temp, I think with all the covid 19 stuff I panicked when his temp was so high.
Not going to give antibiotics now as they wouldn't work for three days anyway, if his symptoms are still bad contact GP on Monday.

Thanks again for responses.

LazyFace I was giving advice that was in the NHS website. As the OP says she was given the same advice by 111
