Front Door Fresh Air Query

Now the weather has gotten really nice, but we are all still under lockdown, I really need suggestions on how I can keep my front door open to let in the fresh air, but not allow my kids to escape. Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to do this without having to replace my entire front door?

DH is from Northumberland, and we spend a lot of time there. I have never met anyone who says "gotten".

I live here and hear it all the time. Like @Merename says, how could you say the weather has gotten really nice without using the word 'gotten'? DS went whinging to DH earlier and DH asked what was up so I explained "he's just gotten wrong for throwing Lego".

Install two chains one normal height and second about 4inches from top. Use a heavy doorstop to hold the gap. You need the top chain to prevent the smarter taller child from getting out by figuring out the lower chain. As an extra precaution you might want a proximity alarm which rings if the door opens as wide as an escaping child.

You've never met an American?

Two of my friends are American Grin
I have never come across anyone in Northumberland who says gotten in place of got though. I love hearing local dialects, and think we shouldn’t dumb them down.

Like @Merename says, how could you say the weather has gotten really nice without using the word 'gotten'?

No, none of DH’s family say gotten, honestly. They live near Morpeth and Ashington.
