What's everyone up to today?

lucysmam · 04/04/2020 11:17

I'm currently drinking a coffee, listening to the radio, & scrolling t'interweb.

The girls stayed up (again...so many late nights!) so are still sleeping atm.

When they get up; dd1 wanted to bake biscuits, and dd2 wanted to grow a rainbow so we'll do that.

Might clean out a kitchen cupboard or two as well later on.

I'll make meatballs for tea, and use up my last tin of tomatoes for sauce to go with them.

I need the shop at some point for milk and loo rolls so am going to message my friend who works in the post office to see when it's been quietest on our row of shops.

What are you all up to? :)

Happy Birthday Jigsaws.

I’ve been pottering about. Am still in pjs though.

Cleaned utility room and steam cleaned the floor.
Vacuumed dog bed and washed cover. It now on the line.
Did a bedding wash too and have another load in.

About to finish cleaning the kitchen and will then vacuum and steam clean the floor.

Might do some of my jigsaw this afternoon. Or read a bit. Maybe in the bath. That sounds nice.

happypotamus · 04/04/2020 13:51

Er, not a lot.
It's the first day of the school holidays, so DC have spent the day in the pyjamas watching videos of people playing minecraft. That is the most normal thing that's happened in ages, as that is how they usually spend the first day of school holidays.
I will attempt to drag them outside later.
I am having an online meeting with the others who I run a guide unit with to plan what we do in our online meeting with the girls next week.
Trying not to descend into madness etc.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 04/04/2020 14:06

We're having a movie marathon. So far we've watched Pete's dragon, zootropolis, diary of a wimpy kid Roderick rules, madalorian (not a movie) and we're now watching the fox and hound. Going to make a roast dinner later.

bigchris · 04/04/2020 14:12

Will be getting a takeaway and wine tonight as kids are staying out

Hope you mean with their dad Smile

BearSoFair · 04/04/2020 14:19

DCat had a manic 20 minutes at 6:30 this morning and woke the whole house, so we all went for a walk around the local park before 8am when it was still quiet! I've washed the windows (inside) and am trying to psyche myself up to do the kitchen and bathroom floors...
DH is sorting through years of old bills and paperwork that have built up, so far the oldest find was a bank letter from 2005!
DS1 in his room, probably facetiming friends or on his laptop.
DD and DS2 playing on the Switch

BetelgeuseIsOrionsArmpit · 04/04/2020 14:20

DS3 did his live video streamed kickboxing class this morning, DS2 did his class afterwards. DS1 is upstairs watching wrestling in his bedroom.
DS3 also made some peanut butter cookies with DH while I made some chilli con carne to go in the slow cooker for dinner tonight.
All 3 DSs are upstairs gaming/watching stuff and we are just chilling out now.

Cheesymonster · 04/04/2020 14:20

Spent a couple of hours this morning cleaning the house and changing beds etc. Currently sitting in conservatory while DD watches a YouTube video. Have been playing football in garden and also ate lunch outside which was nice. DH is at work until midnight so it’s just me and DD. Will probably just cook a frozen pizza for tea. Might watch Five Children and It this afternoon.

Bunnylady54 · 04/04/2020 14:35

Sitting on Mumsnet instead of emptying the dishwasher, loading it & cleaning the worktops. One of the bunnies has just made me smile by popping his head over the back doorstep. They are loving this sunny weather. Not really sure what I did this morning. Popped out to the chemist - felt really sorry for them because they were trying to close but more people kept coming & would say stuff like “ Can I just have a quick word “. Off to Aldi after 4 to do ours & my parents’ shopping. Dreaded it last week but it was ok & now I know what to expect, although I hope they’ve installed screens for the cashiers. DD is doing some maths online & DH has just finished watching Top Gear on catch up & is about to make some wholemeal bread yum.

FrenchyQ · 04/04/2020 14:36

Have had a manic week at work, so the house has been neglected. Have cleaned the kitchen (including sorting out cupboards), hoovered all downstairs and bathed our Jack Russell. DH has planted some flowers. Dd21 helped me which was nice and made a change. Ds13 is still cleaning his room (he gets distracted easily).
DH is doing a bbq in a bit

H1978 · 04/04/2020 15:09

Had a busy morning cleaned bathrooms, mopped floors, vacuumed and dusted upstairs
marinated meat for bbq tomorrow

Still need to clean gas cooker but have put drain cleaner down the sink so can’t use for a few hours so relaxing for a bit on Mumsnet

Lobsterquadrille2 · 04/04/2020 15:54

Attended an AA meeting on Zoom. DD has gone food shopping - I'm not going out today - and she's going to drop a couple of things on my mother's doorstep. My mother phoned this morning in a slight panic because she'd run out of a couple of essential items - she is nearly 90 and usually has her shopping delivered, so this is an exception even though DD obviously won't see her.

I'm slightly enjoying isolating. I don't make pointless trips out any more. However, when someone telephones that I don't really want to speak to, I can no longer pretend that I am out!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 04/04/2020 16:04

Stayed up late drinking wine with DS and watching Phoenix nights so feeling a bit lethargic today. Have mumsnetted, facebooked, read and taken umpteen calls from other DS who is isolating at his girlfriends families and is cooking a curry feast for them all tonight and needed recipes, shopping advice etc 😁
DH has painted the shed but apart from the above and some laundry it’s been a lazy day for me.

aibutohavethisusername · 04/04/2020 16:14

Having a lazy day. Been averaging 20,000 steps on my work days.
Had a bath, Spanish style breakfast. Soup for lunch as I was bad and stockpiled some cans.
Been sitting in the communal garden a couple times. Now watching Lady & The Tramp.

Aragog · 04/04/2020 16:18

Just finished wrapping some presents that have arrived for DD - she turns 18 tomorrow. Obviously all our plans are cancelled but she will be surprised tomorrow that some gifts have come through for her from family and friends (she hasn't seen them arrive.)

So now sat on the computer doing very little.

MIL is reading. She's staying with us for the duration as FIL was seriously ill in hospital and couldn't be visited. Sadly he died earlier this week, though they did manage to see him when it happened. She is having a quiet day reading today.

DH and DD are out. DH had to call in work to exchange some files - he is classed as a key worker and works from home, but occasionally needs to go to the office for files and post. DD has driven him. She was supposed to take her test 3 weeks ago and it was cancelled because of CV, so as dh was making an 'essential' journey we suggested she drove to keep her driving practise up a little.

peaceanddove · 04/04/2020 16:30

Did my 2nd C25K run this morning with DH and DD. Came home and showered and amused myself by applying full on make up. Did some laundry then popped to local CoOp for a grocery shop while DH cut the grass for the first time this year.

Right now I'm drinking coffee and eating M&S satsumas which really aren't worth the extra money. DD is napping. DH is on a business conference call. Later on we're having Chicken Dijon with proper chips and might watch a film Smile

Firsttimelottie · 04/04/2020 16:36

It's been a lazy but peaceful day so far.

I've been in the kitchen a fair bit - I made soup for lunch. Energy balls for snacks. And now I've got 'told in the hole' baking.

It feels good to be getting back into cooking. Nothing adventurous, but an improvement for me.

Currently DD(5) and DP are playing the Nintendo Carnival game.

I think after dinner we'll watch a film together.

I have plans to get us more active tomorrow however!

Firsttimelottie · 04/04/2020 16:37

Sorry for you and your family's loss Aragog

Aragog · 04/04/2020 16:39

Thank you. It was a non CV related death. Its a very strange and challenging time to be trying to sort a death and a funeral.

tigerbear · 04/04/2020 16:40

I went on a long walk with DP earlier, my first time out in 3 weeks.
Now sitting in the garden, drinking Corona 😬

Frokni · 04/04/2020 17:13

Went for a walk with DH Dd2 and Dd5. I dropped food off to mum who is in for the 12 week stretch. Found flour and baking powder for her at a sainsburys to go when i filled up my car with petrol. So did another quick trip to hers- she wants to bake for the girls! Was dead chuffed she can fill her time more.

I am sitting here in DH dressing gown thinking of ordering takeaway tonight!

:-)

TwoZeroTwoZero · 04/04/2020 17:25

We did the garden today. We cut the grass and strimmed the edges after we tidied up some of the branches from when we chopped the trees back in November.

I've been to the Co-Op for some essentials incl. chocolate and crisps (still can't get hold of any decent bread, bags of actual pasta or any flour though) and am now sitting in the garden listening to the radio.
