Just that - been working from home for just under 2 weeks. I have a sedentary job anyway but the extra calories are obviously stacking up from snacking, wine and boredom.
I’ve been taking the odd 20 minute walk and doing some kettlebells half heartedly - the thought of restricting my calories at the moment to lose this weight makes me feel so sad. Eating and drinking nice things is all we have left 🙁

Not turning into Jabba the Hutt is enough motivation for me.

tiredanddangerous · 04/04/2020 11:03

Where you went wrong was getting on the scales. I’m staying well away.

Hippywannabe · 04/04/2020 11:17

Me too. I had lost 2 stones too just eating an Easter egg too

Maybe Try changing your meals a bit so you can fit in the snacks etc.

If you can get hold of fresh stuff (or frozen) get a big pot of vegetable soup made for lunches or dinners have baked potatoes and salad for dinner but without piling on the toppings or stir fry or a healthy protein and cous cous or other lighter calorie but filling meals and you can move the saved calories over to the snacks or the wine.

We are mostly all wanting to graze and drink a bit more than normal because we are stuck in so if we can shift our calories around so we can spread them over the day to cover the extra we should be able to fit some of that in without ballooning!

I have been quite strict in the day time with snacks except for a packet of crisps at lunch time and a few biscuits in the evening and during the week trying not to have wine but I did have a spirit and a mixer on tues evening and last night we tried to make margaritas Blush

I've gained 6lbs. I've been really good about sticking to low carb and not snacking - but the extra wine and lack of exercise has clearly got to me.

I've been doing PE with Joe every day, but I normally work out every day and walk at least 12000 steps. We've been isolating due to coughs so not walking - can get out now but having to go at the 5 year old's pace, which isn't great for burning calories. I've got a skipping rope on order, as I can do that in the garden to burn calories, and I'm still within the healthy BMI range but I need to stop the upwards creep.

I’m too scared to get on the scales.

Fasting is the only thing that works for me.

Haworthia · 04/04/2020 11:24

I’m doing 16:8 fasting - not to lose weight, just to maintain.

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/04/2020 11:25

I’m pretty sure I have too, Im not only in I’m also pregnant and eating a lot of carbs to allay the nausea, but it’s definitely worse than if I was still going about my normal day to day business

icebearforpresident · 04/04/2020 11:28

I’m horribly overweight and since January have been working out daily and doing weight watchers, had managed to lose over a stone.

Then just before the shit really hit the fan here my mum was diagnosed with a secondary breast cancer which is in her bones. That can’t be cured but in theory can be managed for a long time. While she was in the hospital I was having major work done on my house and had moved out so the healthy eating and exercise fell by the wayside.

And now I’ve spent 2 weeks working from home and trying to educate a 4 year old and a 6 year old.

I don’t dare step on the scales.

Casiocalc · 04/04/2020 12:24

Not just me then, it’s so hard not to turn to food for a ‘treat’ in times like this. @icebear - so sorry for the difficult time you are going through at the moment - you have already done so well though. Love to you and your mum. I suppose we all need to be grateful to just get through this difficult time and come out the other end unscathed. Best wishes to you all

I've put on 3 pounds but not sure if it's since the lockdown as I don't weigh myself that often! If it is then I guess it's due to being out of routine, not working, getting up later and only one 20 min walk most days - mind you I've been doing loads of housework so surely that should burn extra calories? Maybe I've over eaten on the carbs some days and not had a walk that day so that could explain it maybe?! So many people are doing low carb during the lockdown and using it as an opportunity to kick start their new eating plan - is anyone doing that here?

LilyRose88 · 04/04/2020 12:52

I am too scared to get on the scales. I have been doing the Joe Wicks daily PE and running a couple of times a week and doing the odd HIIT DVD but I know that my snacking has gone off the scale. Plus I am sitting at home rather than walking around, so I dread to think what I weigh. I am wearing baggy clothes but I suspect that my jeans would be a struggle if I tried to put them on.

I am going to make a large veggie chilli and keep portions in the fridge for my dinners, to see if that stops me snacking so much in the evenings. I live on my own so there is no-one to keep me in check once I start on the chocolate or kettle crisps.

missyB1 · 04/04/2020 12:55

Try only eating in an 8 hour window (16:8) even if you only do it half the week it makes a difference.

Lippy1234 · 04/04/2020 18:21

I’ve put on 3 pounds. I think it’s been because I’ve been eating similar/the same meals to my DH and two adults sons such as toasties instead of my usual salads and soups.

CalmerViolet · 04/04/2020 18:28

Not going to the shops is your friend!

We have been in quarantine, C19 in the house, so I did not go shopping for 2 weeks. Suddenly our eating became much healthier, I had to ration butter etc so no baking, no crisps or chocs, the biscuits ran out quickly.

Usually when I am working from home I am back and forth to the fridge all day.

EnidButton · 04/04/2020 19:57

Pretty sure I've put weight on. Not enough to change clothing size but feel like I have. We have lots more snacks in than usual and things are more stressful as DH is nhs so I'm worried and he's exhausted.

Not weighing myself though, I don't give a shit about it atm. Might have a chocolate macaroon.
