Podcasts for pensioners?

Morning,

I wondered whether anyone would be able to recommend any podcasts which the older generation would enjoy? I spoke to my grandma the other day, who's coping well but was worried about whether her local library would be able to continue the service of posting out her audiobooks. I suspected might not happen so am trying to think of alternatives for her.

TIA

Our local library is offering e-audio books via their website. It might be worth taking a look and seeing if hers offers the same?

I enjoyed Conversations from a Long Marriage which is on the BBC Sounds app. Only 4 episodes but amusing and interesting for anyone who has ever been in a relationship for a long time.

Also Desert Island Discs has a big back catalogue so there's bound to be some people she is interested in.

I use Audible for audio books. They're not cheap compared to going to the library but lots of choice if within her budget.

What sort of things is she interested in and how would she listen to them? What devices does she have?

The BBC has lots of great content like Woman's Hour, Food Programme, True Crime, Comedy, travel, economics, anything really.

But their BBC sounds app is dreadful, especially if you want to listen to a series in order, which it seems completely incapable of delivering. I use the antennapod app on my android phone where you can search, subscribe and listen. Subscribed podcasts appear automatically or you can bulk download past content.

Or you can use the app on a tablet, or via the website:

Actually that’s a good point, I’m not sure she will have any devices capable of playing podcasts. That’s frustrating.

Could you look at a subscription to audible?
