Feckin' chillblains - HELP?!?

TangBloodyFastic · 03/04/2020 14:50

These little bastards are the bane of my life at the moment! They're even waking me up through the night screaming to be itched
Balmosa has helped with them in the past but these at the moment are driving me to insanity
I have had them this time since prob jan and they have flared up badly in the past 3 weeks
I wear my slippers whenever I go into the Arctic kitchen. I always have socks on unless in bed. I am wearing trainers through the day as they are quite loose on my feet and constricting shoes feel to make them itch more.

Does anyone have any tips/suggestions/advice? Id rather not go down the chopping toes off route if I can help it

I've got one at the moment too, it's been very cold here. Ibuprofen gel helps.

BarbarAnna · 03/04/2020 14:56

We have used Akileine Winter Cream after all suffering this year and it is like magic!

TangBloodyFastic · 03/04/2020 14:56

@Drybird2020 they're utterly awful aren't they! Have suffered for around 2-3 years now and they're horrible little things
I'm pregnant so can't use the ibuprofen gel 😫

I’ve got them as well, absolutely no advice but definite solidarity with you

TangBloodyFastic · 03/04/2020 14:58

@BarbarAnna oooh not heard of that, is it a natural product? I'm pregnant so most of my options are going to be out before I even try them! I will be fully armed next winter tho!!!!

See if you can source extra thick sock s, mine are 4tog rated. Really help

TangBloodyFastic · 03/04/2020 15:19

Thanks @BarbarAnna I think I'll probably have to speak with a pharmacist to see if I can use it

@okiedokieme thanks for the suggestion, I've just found some on amazon and ordered them! The bizarre thing is that my feet are always cold but in thick socks/slippers they sweat - maybe this is adding to my problem?
Absolutely worth a try though!

It looks like pretty innocent ingredients and can be bought on Amazon so I am assuming no contraindications but always worth checking.

The only thing that ever worked for me was the old wives tale my mum told me, urine... I didn't believe her at first cos of how gross it is but she swore it worked for my auntie so when it was bad I took a bath and I'm afraid I weed in the water to see if it would help, never had them ever again. Maybe the ammonia in it I don't know but worked for me

TangBloodyFastic · 04/04/2020 16:52

Thanks all!
Really suffering with them today, the itching is driving me nuts! Gaaaahhhh I hate the bloody things 😭

I know this is a slightly old post but I just did a search on chillblains in the hope of finding advice! I haven't had them this badly since I was young. I'm wearing three pairs of socks and trainers in the house (had to get rid of my slippers, maybe that's part of the problem). They woke me up last night and are just constantly itching. It's intolerable! I've ordered some Snowfire because that's what I used to use but at this moment in time I'm seriously considering the urine!
