Anyone got one?

What do you think?

Are the flavours nice?

Should we get one?

Yes. Love it, had it about 12 months and bought it just to reduce plastic waste as we drank a lot of sparkling water.

I don’t bother with their flavours - I buy bottle green, Frobishers and Mr Fitzpatrick cordials.

cookielove · 03/04/2020 14:45

Can you really taste the carbonation? We don't like sparkling water but drink alot of fizzy stuff so was thinking of trying this?

I was thinking of getting one mostly for fizzy water, but couldn't believe how expensive they are

I like it, it tastes more than something like San pelligrino but not as much as badoit.

I subscribe to the gas scheme. It isn’t cheap tbh, probably not far off the same price as supermarket bottled water each month, less than San pelligrino - but hopefully the lack of six plastic bottles a week is better for the environment.

I bought mine on a deal Oldraver, I think it was something like £80 with two of their cordials, four water bottles and a gas bottle.

I would probably buy another one if it broke.

Crackerofdoom · 03/04/2020 15:41

I adore ours and we use it every day.

Be aware that the plastic bottles on the cheaper versions have an expiry date so don't last forever.

We have the one with the glass bottles and drink sparkling water with every meal. It probably costs about 6 quid a month in gas.

We don't buy syrups. I have some fancy squash I use.sometimes but otherwise just with a slice of lemon.

Someone did a study online somewhere where it is not cheaper than buying fizzy drinks (once you pay for the syrups) but much cheaper than buying fizzy water.

Massively depends on how your tap water tastes too I guess. Ours is very nice

Fartlek · 03/04/2020 15:43

@BouncingBomb how much would you spend on Sparkling Water in a month? I want to get a sodastream mostly because of the plastic waste but only if it's not massively more expensive.

DartmoorChef · 03/04/2020 15:44

I use mine all the time.

I don't use the sodastream syrups but i add cordial to the soda water.

Its also very good for making a cheap bottle of white wine into sparkling 😁😁😁

goldenorbspider · 03/04/2020 15:45

Following with interest. I drink a litre of fizzy flavoured water a day Blush

chrisrobin · 03/04/2020 15:54

My DS had for one for his birthday and he loves it, we use normal squash in it to flavour which he prefers, particularly using orange squash or Vimto squash. It's saved us money as we haven't been buying fizzy drinks but we haven't had to buy a refill yet (had it since February and its used every couple of days).

We got it on am Amazon deal- £40 for the Genesis machine with cylinder and bottle + a small plastic bottle + a large Dr Pete syrup. The deal pops up fairly regularly (I have it on Camelcamelcamel and keep forgetting to remove it)

Bouncingbomb · 03/04/2020 16:42

We would drink a bottle of water a day so if I bought San pelligrino that must be £28 or so.

The gas scheme is about £120 a year so £10 a month. We (read that as my 13 year old) never drinks water without fizzing it at home.

Never heard of the plastic bottle having an expiry date to be honest 🤷🏻‍♀️. Works for us!

I have never bought coke etc so don’t mind the cost of nice cordials- am lucky to have a Booths within walking distance and they stock loads of nice ones but order a box from Mr Fitzpatrick when they have offers on.

Farheatarse · 03/04/2020 16:44

Love mine, don’t bother with the cordials though.

Sometimes mix with fresh orange juice or similar, but normally just plain sparkly water. Love it!

RhymingRabbit3 · 03/04/2020 17:01

I love mine, have had it for about 8 years and still use it almost every day. I just add normal squash or cordial because their flavours were expensive and had too many additives for my liking.
The bottles apparently have an expiry date but mine passed that a while ago and havent exploded yet 🤷‍♀️

cookielove · 03/04/2020 19:08

Is the dr pete similar to dr pepper?

OP posts:
Cheeryandmerry · 03/04/2020 19:11

We have one but only for fizzing water, we don’t buy any flavours. There are regularly deals on if you really want one. I bought it to reduce the plastic waste rather than for cost.

chrisrobin · 04/04/2020 13:35

Yes, Dr Pete is their version of Dr Pepper
