Where can I buy compost today?

Local garden centre is shut, supermarket queue round the car park. Anyone have any tips on where I can pick up some compost today or tomorrow? Heard the weather is supposed to be lovely on Sunday, would like to make the most of it! Can you order it online? Any leads appreciated Grin

Any local farm shops near you? Click and collect from wickes?

Glendora · 03/04/2020 13:17

I don't think you'll be able to order any online for delivery by Sunday. I ordered some from marshalls earlier this week, but delivery turnaround was 7-21 days...

Best bet is finding somewhere local you can collect from. Or just wait in the queue at the supermarket.

Farm shop or join the supermarket queue.

Hardly essential travel is it, fgs!!

Dreamersandwishers · 03/04/2020 13:20

Try B&Q Online for click & collect. If they have it locally, you can pick it up today

AllTheCakes · 03/04/2020 13:20

Our local garden Centers and nurseries are offering home delivery with no contact. Loads have advertised on the local Facebook pages.

EvilPea · 03/04/2020 13:20

There’s garden centres near me open if they have food.
So whilst your picking up your essentials in the food aisle you can collect some compost.
Some are also doing free delivery so give them a call.

I’ve just ordered some from Argos but I can’t pick up til next week. Maybe see if you can get a better date from them?

Lumisade · 03/04/2020 13:21

Well Gertrude, what do you think fruit bushes and vegetables grow in, fresh air? Compost is essential for some.

EffOrf · 03/04/2020 13:24

Wilko has a lot of garden stuff and I’m sure I saw some in there

handslikecowstits · 03/04/2020 13:25

Lidl? Aldi? Wilkos? I got mine from our local farm shop when I got my veg and bread. See if any builders' merchants are open, have any and are prepared to deliver.

Mrsjayy · 03/04/2020 13:27

Home bargains I saw a man come out with a few bags earlier,

handslikecowstits · 03/04/2020 13:29

I know of one nursery which is delivering. Depends where you live of course. Smile

Kitchendoctor · 03/04/2020 13:31

Whereabouts are you? Some of the stall holders in the market in my city are doing deliveries - one of them doing plants & compost

GhostsToMonsoon · 03/04/2020 14:33

I have seen compost in the following places: farm shop, the Co-op and Tesco. Some local garden centres deliver if you look on their Facebook pages. Plus Blue Diamond: store.bluediamond.gg

VivaLeBeaver · 03/04/2020 15:29

Some garden centres are doing deliveries.

wessexwomble · 03/04/2020 16:42

Thanks all, will call around a few local places, see if they are still open for collection. Would have liked to get an online order (social distancing and all that!) but helping a local business can't hurt!

I am near Winchester @Kitchendoctor Smile

B&q are only do click and collect for essentials, excludes gardening and decorating

Triplesevenlife · 03/04/2020 19:10

My local co had some instore today

LilacTree1 · 03/04/2020 19:11

If I had a garden I’d be growing food and I reckon that makes compost essential.
