What could work as a temporary bath plug?

Mine's disappeared. Looked everywhere. Think someone's thrown it away by mistake. I'm currently using a milk bottle top, correct size but not ideal because its very easy to kick out of the plughole ! I've ordered a replacement. None of the other plugs in the house fit the bath, all too large or wrong shape.

Blu-tac?

Go through all you hairbrushes and hoover brushes and cut out as much hair as possible, mash it up with some soap and get it really tangled, then use that.

Use a cup, preferably plastic. Put it over the plug hole, then fill the bath with water to preferred depth.

Maybe put something heavy and appropriate over the cup as it's plastic it might float. Also, if it gets nudged the water will drain away.

That could work wateriswide thank you.

Make one from foil and blue tac

WhatHaveIFound · 03/04/2020 09:57

Pu a plactis bag over the plus hole and weigh it down with coins. That's worked for me in basic hotels when the plug has been missing.

WaterIsWide · 03/04/2020 09:57

Have you got a sink plunger ?

Firstly make sure it's clean.

Then put it over the plug hole as if you were unblocking the plug hole i.e. to create suction, then leave it there whilst you fill the bath. Leave it in place until you need to empty the bath.

ReceiptsAreSweet · 03/04/2020 09:58

Blue tac, okay. Added bonus it'll give me something to do wont it lol

Water balloon filled with water.
Or do you have a silicon baking sheet? Lay that over the plug hole.
Or use a too-small plug but bulk it out with tin foil.
We've used all of these in the past, we have several plug holes with no plugs!

I really didn't expect so many answers, thank you
Thought this type of thing only happened to me Grin

Fozzleyplum · 03/04/2020 10:10

Cling film weighed down with something?

Redcherries · 03/04/2020 10:24

Oh dear lord I read the title wrong. 😳

WaterIsWide · 03/04/2020 10:35

If you could use a butt plug as a temporary bath plug it could be awkward explaining it to you kids/husband/parents etc.

Maybe remove if from, 'the orifice' before use. Definitely clean it too.

ReceiptsAreSweet · 03/04/2020 10:38

Grin Grin Grin
I'm sorry I can't try that for you, I may be the only one on mn but I don't possess a buttplug.

We have been doing this for a while, glad we aren’t the only ones to somehow lose a plug. A handful of wet kitchen roll does the job for us, though there are some much more creative and professional sounding methods here!!
