I love that version of Joseph!

ifowaa · 12/04/2020 19:03

Thanks @MadauntofA ... watching it now, hope it doesn't cut out!

chomalungma · 12/04/2020 19:14

I love the film 'Joseph' set in the school
Maria Friedman as the narrator is excellent.

And Jesus Christ Superstar is also really good - the film version with tanks is brilliant.

Have they said what the next musical will be?

Evita I think.
And after Jane Eyre comes Treasure Island.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 12/04/2020 19:49

Superstar was good if a bit “Down with the Da yoof”. Tim Minchin was fantastic (and Jc was rather hot).
Anyone keen on opera, the Met are doing streams.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 12/04/2020 19:57

Loved Tim in that role. I also loved JC's voice. But have trouble looking at him without thinking of that chap out of the IT crowd!

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 13/04/2020 11:21

Matt Berry? YY Jesus was his double! I really did a double take before he started singing.

Gallade · 13/04/2020 15:42

Really enjoyed JCSS on Friday night. Thought Mel C was surprisingly great!

Tim Minchin also brilliant.

Is it Evita next?

ifowaa · 13/04/2020 23:09

Didn't enjoy JCSS, the whole thing hatred for me although I thought the leads were all excellent, and even Chris Moyles!

ifowaa · 13/04/2020 23:10

Jarred not Hatred! Grin

DrMadelineMaxwell · 13/04/2020 23:46

Yes, Matt Berry!

I have always loved the stage version of JCS. ANd there were thinks I didn't like about this version, but I loved JC's vocals and was extremely impressed with Tim MInchin's performance.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 13/04/2020 23:57

I'd only ever seen the 70s film version, which I couldn't 'see' in my mind's eye being transposed to the stage today, so actually I really enjoyed the staging of it and the singing. And Tim.

Also @DrMadelineMaxwell I've just noticed your user name... we clearly like the same things! New book out this week and as food and books are the two things me and DH have agreed not to scrimp on during lockdown I'll be getting it hot off the press.

ZoeandChandon · 14/04/2020 00:18

Mel C was phenomenal as Mary, loved the whole show.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/04/2020 00:55

@LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett :) Already on preoder. Can't wait til the 16th!

PenguinsOnParade · 14/04/2020 18:29

It's Phantom this week. Smile

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/04/2020 20:06

Fantastic. Do we know which version?

PenguinsOnParade · 16/04/2020 19:26

Just found out from this link that Phantom will only be available for 24 hours for the UK and Ireland.

It's the 25th anniversary version which they showed in cinemas and there's an encore with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman.

Music was incredible in Jane Eyre. One song in particular was genius won't name it as it would spoil it for those planning to watch.
Finally got round to finishing it before Treasure Island was put up. Jane Eyre was a brilliant production, staging ingenious, the song you mention was indeed genius.

MadauntofA · 24/04/2020 08:37

Love never dies on tonight- not sure what to expect with that one!

CoolCarrie · 24/04/2020 14:46

Treasure Island was great, loved the staging and the lead actress was excellent.

Sparticle · 24/04/2020 22:34

Yes we really enjoyed Treasure Island too. I didn’t know what to expect but DD 7 and DS 11 both enjoyed it, as did I. Not sure I’ll watch Love Never Dies as I’ve never been a Phantom fan (sorry!).

PenguinsOnParade · 25/04/2020 09:58

Love Never Dies was ok but I wouldn't watch it again either. It just didn't capture me like Phantom did when I first saw it.

Treasure Island was brilliant and I loved Twelfth Night this week too.

I keep meaning to try some other streams as well, YouTube suggested The Globe's one to me yesterday and I found out RSNO and the Royal Opera House do videos on FB on Friday evenings too.

CoolCarrie · 25/04/2020 13:14

Any fans of Fleabag should know what the play version is available to watch for a £4.00 or more donation.

CoolCarrie · 25/04/2020 13:15

Please can you tell us what was the song from Jane Eyre.

AllTheseThingsThatIHaveNotDone · 25/04/2020 19:03

Go to 2.30 the woman playing Bertha is amazing.
