I liked them both - is there anything on I can watch tonight?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 05/04/2020 20:04

I think the next new ones are next week but there are still operas and ballets on there if you search

Shot shot shot blocking shot - I missed eugenius?

KatyMac · 05/04/2020 22:45

How about that for an autocorrect?

Sparticle · 06/04/2020 10:20

I saw Jason D and Philip S both live (and someone else in the touring version within the last nine years but I can't remember who that was) but I don't mind the Donny version - in my mind, Maria Friedman is the BEST Narrator so as long as she's singing I'm happy!

Thanks for the Newsies tip @Comefromaway, I'll look that up.

JSC always makes me cry but obviously it's a brilliant choice for the Easter weekend so I'll be watching on Friday night!

Rent from Fox. I am struggling with it a bit cos I didn't realise it was a sung through musical. Love Jordan though, know him from DWTS

The above three are not official so a contribution to your local theatre may assuage your guilt

Legit paid sites worth a look/subscription include
Soho Theatre On Demand (I paid to see Fleabag, it was excellent)
Digital Theatre.com (excellent value at 9.99/month; cancel anytime)

HAPPY EASTER Daffodil

Jesus Christ Superstar with Tim Minchin is very good indeed

KatyMac · 11/04/2020 10:23

I preferred the live version of JCSS - DD & I watched it last year on 6th April

Although, surprisingly, last night's Mary's voice was fab!

FrenchFancie · 11/04/2020 20:28

I’ve just watched JCSS for the first time - oh my god it was awesome! And Tim Minchin 😍😍😍
I bet that was amazing to see live.

Dowser · 11/04/2020 20:55

Hope phantom will get shown

MadauntofA · 12/04/2020 09:57

Tim Minchin was definitely the best singer and actor in that.

iklboo · 12/04/2020 10:08

@FrenchFancie - it was. We saw it in Manchester. Tim Minchin was amazing and walked about 5 ft from us when he was making an entrance.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 12/04/2020 10:39

I watched that yesterday and have developed an unhealthy crush on the guy who played Jesus Grin So tortured! Much misunderstood!

Wouldn't object to Judas or Pilate either tbf.

ifowaa · 12/04/2020 10:43

Does anyone know how much time we have to watch JCSS?
I am busy all day, hopefully it will be still available this evening?

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 12/04/2020 10:44

That was such a great version of JCSS, really loved how they brought it up to date. Tim Minchin would so get it. Agree with a pp it's the only decent thing Andrew Lloyd Webber has ever written.

PenguinsOnParade · 12/04/2020 10:46

I missed Joseph but if it was the more movie styled one with Donny then I've seen that before at least. Absolutely loved Jesus. I remember seeing the cast list for that at the time and was put off by it but they were all brilliant.

I tried to watch the NT's Jane Eyre but really struggled with it. I really love the story and I get what they were trying to do with the minimalist set but it just didn't work for me. Was very disappointed and turned off halfway through. Might attempt to give it another shot before the next one as I hate giving up on things. I missed the James Corden one there too. I'm looking forward to Twelfth Night though, think that one is the 23rd.

Have they said what the next musical will be? I only know By Jeeves is one of the future ones but not when it'll be or what any of the others are, are we all in the same boat there?

MadauntofA · 12/04/2020 11:07

You have to watch it before 7pm

MadauntofA · 12/04/2020 11:21

That last post was for ifowaa

HotCrossBungle · 12/04/2020 11:51

Music was incredible in Jane Eyre. One song in particular was genius won't name it as it would spoil it for those planning to watch.
