What should I do about this dental pain?

Dull pain in one of my teeth for the past few days... Obviously can't have dental treatment right now... not least because I'm multiply high risk.

Is there anything I can do to settle this down/stop it progressing? Pain is manageable right now.

I rang my dentist who posted me a prescription for antibiotics as she thought it was an infection

There's not much you can do really right now

You should be able to contact your dentist who can give advice. If there's no swelling generally there isn't an infection and so antibiotics are pretty pointless, but I think there's no much option right now

Its just gonna be a case of painkillers, things like oragel can help. It depends on your exact symptoms and what the tooth itself is like which is why I would recommend a telephone consultation with your dentist

Toothache often comes and goes, so it will most likely settle. And a dull ache that is manageable might be something else other than your classic toothache.

I think the emergency centres are very hit and miss, I know they wanted it open end of the week in my area but I haven't heard of anything actually being set up. I imagine by the end of next week they will be better prepared.
