Corona related work issue!

Hello,
I work part time in a college as an art technician. obviously college closed and if there aren’t any students creating art work or having classes I have no work anyway. I can not do the work from home either. I have a contract. He say I will continue to be paid. However, they seem to expect me to work the missed hours back at some point. I do not think this is practical or fair. Are they allowed to do this? Shouldn’t they just furlough me?

Are they asking you to continue working doing tasks such as prepare materials, train etc and work reduced flexible hours instead of placing you on furlough? If so then you need to negotiate going on furlough. If this is whats happening are they paying you reduced or full salary?

Or have they placed you on furlough and told you when you return you need to work additional hours? If this, then no thats not true.

Ask to be furloughed then you don’t have to work or make up lost time. You will get 80 percent
