House fires increase

Because we are all home so much, cooking so much more there are more house fires, so we need to be extra careful especially when other family members take over cooking duties or fix themselves snacks.

Yep. I'm trying to keep an eye on myself. I set my breadmaker going yesterday but didn't add the liquid... did wonder afterwards whether that would have been an issue. Unlikely, I imagine.

Why even start this concerntroll post?

There hasn't been a rise in house fires.

Hopefully after this some people will realise the term concern troll and it will hopefully make the internet a generally better place.

CatBatCat · 02/04/2020 19:29

@Therebythedoor I've done that. Nothing bad happened, just some well mixed warm flour.

modgepodge · 02/04/2020 19:47

Yeah my dad once ran the bread maker overnight with no water. It didn’t cause an issue.

In fairness to the OP - this is on the Essex Fire Service's home page:

As this situation develops, and more people stay at home because they are social distancing or self-isolating, there is a chance we could see an increase in accidental house fires. This is because people are at a higher risk of these types of incidents while they are at home.

Dh used to make bread overnight and on more than one occasion did it without water.
It makes warmed flour.
Without yeast is worse. It makes a very solid brick.

I find my mind is wandering somewhat, so much to think about, I am distracted at times. So to be extra careful is not a bad thing for the fire service to point out.
