Anyone else loosing weight because of lockdown with kids?

To start with I could do loosing a few pounds so I'm not starving by any means.

I have four kids who normally eat at school and now they are at home obviously we are getting through more food.

The cheaper brands I normally buy arent available plus I'm.trying to not go out to buy food unless I'm desperate. I haven't been to a shop for ten days.

I have lost 4lbs in those ten days as I'm skipping one meal a day and eating so much less too. I just want the food to last for the kids so I'm not constantly having to venture out. I'm hoping I dont need to food shop more than once a fortnight.

Also I scared of comments about buying food for 6 people and stockpiling. Also that you still cant buy more than three of anything. 3 lots of 500g mince is nearly three meals for 6 especially if you cant buy pasta or tinned tomatoes.

How sustainable is loosing 4lbs a week? Is it ok as long as I'm still overweight? I have a good buffer before I get to a healthy range BMI!

Maybe this is good way to loose the excess weight?

Although I don't sit at my desk snacking but I don't get out of bed until super late then have regular napsBlush.

I am also no longer having Starbucks carrot cake for breakfast, ham and cheese croissant for lunch and jelly snakes to snack on all day at the office!

I'm in the same boat! No office cake, no buying croissants if I didn't have time for breakfast at home, no coffee shop chains open, no walking around town being surrounded by food shops. We have had a few treats but we've only gone to food shops about once a week so it's far less than before. I've lost a few pounds! If I ever get back to work, I'm going to make far more of an effort to make my own packed lunch as it usually has fewer calories, as well as saving money. Going to Pret needs to go back to being a treat again, not an everyday convenience.

Ive no scales here. Usually go to boots everyother week for a weigh in but obviously not doing that now. I got diagnosed with an overactive thyroid last week and been put on meds. I dont want to get fat!!

FrancesHaHa · 02/04/2020 19:22

About half a stone here. I've got the lack of taste and smell thing so can't be bothered to snack when nothing tastes like anything

packetandtripe · 02/04/2020 20:53

I'm not losing any weight! Too much cake and sitting.

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/04/2020 21:57

I’m losing simply because I know how beneficial eating well is to my mental health and for me it’s more about how I feel than how I look.
I started slimming world a few weeks before lockdown so I’m just carrying on at home. I find having set meals gives structure to my day and I’m going out for an early run or walk every day.

Cutting out all the crap has been like a veil has been lifted from my mood and I noticed the difference after eating like this for just a week or two. I’m determined to carry on!

NothingIsWrong · 02/04/2020 21:59

I've lost 10lbs in the last 3 weeks. First 10 days I wasn't well with no sense of taste or smell so I was eating hardly anything. Since then I just haven't fancied food. Normally I'm a piggy glutton, so this is very odd for me.

I can stand to lose it, but I don't think it's very healthy to be honest.

Legoandloldolls · 02/04/2020 22:29

My kids will be fat and thick too. My eldest was in GCSEs so I cant get enthusiastic for home educating when his entire school has just gone down the pan.

I have been seeing pictures of peoples shopping on FB recently frothing when people have their Max 3 packs of mince so that's what's scaring me the most about venturing to the shops.

A week before lockdown I bought the biggest bottle of vodka I could see in Costco as I foresaw lockdown for months with the kids 🤣 so it's not really healthy living. I'm also walking further on my daily walks. I normally wanted to turn back after five minutes back in Feb but the stress really makes me want to walk.

I know I have to bare the shops soon. I hope no one judges me. If I buy more than one slice of bread and a apple. I guess that's calming down too now? I miss cake 😭

Initially yes. Now I’m gaining 😬

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 02/04/2020 22:51

Only a couple of pounds so far. I'm eating less, trying to make food last so I don't have to go shopping, but not moving enough, spending too much time on the tablet and watching TV. I need to step away from the computer and start tidying up my very overgrown garden and hopefully I will lose more.

managedmis · 02/04/2020 22:56

DS (previously thought to have potential catwalk cheekbones) now looks like he's spent 6 months on Kirrin Island with the Famous Five eating macaroons and custard.

DD is packing it on too - peanuts, crisps, Reese's Easter eggs, all in front of Baby Bum.

Moving? Overrated.

U2HasTheEdge · 03/04/2020 01:12

Yes.

I don't know how much as I am not weighing myself. I have been dieting for 4 weeks now. I would love to drink wine and eat crap right now, but those 4 weeks will then be wasted.

If I hadn't been dieting before lockdown I would have gained for sure.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 03/04/2020 04:04

I bought some kettlebells to exercise with at home and as I live alone, have lost my job and have nothing else to do and no one to talk to have been using them for hours. So not fat yet! Will probably get bored soon.

Banya400 · 03/04/2020 04:09

Loosing???? I don't think that is a word.

I guess you mean losing?

Sadly I am not. Hogging and jogging here. Eating my body weight in hot cross buns most days

BasilDiffuser · 03/04/2020 07:54

Show smart are @Banya400 and @missmouse101 pointing out the typo. What clever ladies.

missmouse101 · 03/04/2020 08:02

Nothing to do with smart Basil. Why so sensitive? It's a very irritating mistake and a good thing to learn to spell correctly.
