Sore throat with white lumps and green streaks, could it be COVID-19 or am I just being melodramatic?

Just that really, woke up this morning feeling grotty and my throat is a mess. I sort of thought I'd already had the coronavirus, DH and I had a coughing/chesty thing a couple of weeks ago, nothing terribly serious but it left us quite drained. Is this likely to be just a normal sore throat? Do I need to stop going out for walks? Sorry to be yet another thicko with a boring question about coronavirus!

Sounds like tonsillitis.

Sounds like a throat infection. Ring your GP and they can advise/prescribe over the phone

Thanks for the replies. I'm not going to bother the doctor with it at the moment, it's tolerable. Lemsip and ice cream will be fine :) do you think it's still OK to go out for my daily exercise then?

Ring your gp and they will send a prescription, don't wait! tonsillitis can become very nasty and land you in hospital

MiniCooperLover · 02/04/2020 15:07

No! If you're feeling gritty and you have a virus of some kind going outdoors at this point is not a good idea !!

White bits on tonsils should really have antibiotics to avoid turning into rheumatic fever

Blackopal · 02/04/2020 15:24

I had a cough and tight chest, my DC both developed what I took to be tonsillitis.
Gp was brilliant and arranged antibiotics for them, just in case. Also told me they are taking any throat swelling as a symptom of Covid.
So, who knows, but I would suggest antibiotics and isolation for you.

Tonsillitis or throat infection. Call doctor as you will need antibiotics

My friend's DD has exactly this! She's had COVID confirmed and now woken up this morning with suspected tonsillitis. Friend managed to get her a prescription for penicillin.

I wonder if this is another way that the virus is affecting people?

You must see GP as sounds like tonsilitis and you will need antibiotics.
