Where can you buy paint online?

Anyone else doing DIY projects whilst we’re in lockdown? I’m looking to buy paint online, does anyone have any recommendations?

I had a bit of a nightmare with this but eventually on the 3rd attempt with B&Q I managed to complete my order for some of my paint items. Couldn’t do with Screwfix, Wickes or Homebase so am pleased that I got some of what I wanted.
I will attempt to get cream paint from a local shop on Thursday as it’s my next day off and I will have to food shop by then.

JoeySpecial · 13/04/2020 15:55

I've tried again with wickes and B and Q today.

Queued over an hour to get on site.

Chose paint that was in stock.
Get to delivery or click and collect and it is out of stock. There has to be a better way of stock management?
Waste of time.

Decorating Centre Online is expensive though.

B&q has always been crap with click and collect stock.

ohdearmymistake · 13/04/2020 19:08

Well I made my 3rd attempt to collect the order from B and Q today as I realised that they will only hold it til tomorrow.

Still haven't made it to the car park yet got turned back again.
Apparently there were so many cars queuing to get in that the police turned up and made them close, so I was told.

Will make attempt number 4 on Tuesday.

JoeySpecial · 13/04/2020 19:39

Yikes!!!

Can you go before they open to queue?

glitterelf · 13/04/2020 20:05

You can only click and collect on trade paints but both Wicks and B&Q do delivery. My vote is to use B&Q no queue to get online and swift delivery, I ordered more paint on Tuesday as DH was adamant we'd run out 😒 was delivered on Saturday and you guessed it we didn't need any more!! If you are after standard undercoat and gloss I'd look at Screwfix as they also do click and collect.

Lolalovesmarmite · 13/04/2020 20:09

Crown but delivery time is 14 to 21 days. Also Little Greene.

Re Wickes - be patient with online order system (only open limited hours), get yourself in queue - you don't need to sit there monitoring it. Once you get on to website check that the paint (I assume main item of interest) is available in your local store, if not check for a different volume (i.e. 2.5 lt or 5.0 lt etc). Be flexible and you'll get something!

123456abcd · 13/04/2020 20:21

Today I started in online Wickes queue at c10:00, having waited 50 mins for online slot I managed to collect paint in person at 13:30....pretty impressive (and no queue at shop).

MummytoCSJH · 13/04/2020 21:05

I got 2 tubs delivered from b&q next day delivery last week! It was £5 but worth it.

ohdearmymistake · 13/04/2020 21:36

How are you all managing to do this, I ordered on the 6th and still haven't been able to get the order?

JoeySpecial · 14/04/2020 10:44

It's coloured paint that I want and haven't managed it.

Wonder if it is just white that people are getting?

ohdearmymistake · 14/04/2020 19:33

Well I made my 4th attempt only to be turned away again.

I got told that the car park will open at 11.30, I tried again for the 5th time to be allowed in!.

Then had a 2.5 hour wait mostly stopped with the odd crawl along bumper to bumper to reach the front of the queue, then directed into one of the parking bays.

They had one person per 4 cars writing down your click and collect order number then disappearing in the store for ages. Eventually they reappeared with some of the orders then disappeared again.

This added another 25 minuets to queuing time.

DON'T GO TO B AND Q

Larach · 14/04/2020 19:43

Lakeland. Not cheap but environmentally friendly and being delivered.

ArriettyJones · 14/04/2020 19:47

Wilkos/Wilkinsons is still open, stocks paint and I think might be doing click and collect, if that’s any help.

JoeySpecial · 14/04/2020 20:19

Wilko hardly had any paint for delivery at the moment and not doing click and collect. It is normally my go to :(

@ohdearmymistake did you eventually get it then?

ohdearmymistake · 14/04/2020 20:50

JoeySpecial

Yes, I had invested so much time and effort I had to see it through, thou I wont be doing again.

Have you tried The Range they had quite a bit of paint in different colours and were stocking the shelves with it.

sallyisstarstruck · 14/04/2020 21:24

Wickes are doing trade paint on click n collect but not the normal sized tins. They can be ordered for delivery but there is currently a long wait as the slots are all booked up. Click n collects can only be placed 6am til 3pm but get on early before the queue builds. As far as I know orders for delivery can be placed any time. Hope this helps!

youvegottobekidding · 15/04/2020 09:06

Having no luck whatsoever with Homebase cancelling my order, however they took our money quick enough. Have emailed them a few times, using their online email & it’s been returned as message failure, now it appears they have removed their phone number from their website. Not responding on Instagram either!

Youcunnyfunt · 15/04/2020 09:23

What are you painting? My Aldi had lots of paint and DIY stuff in their ‘surprise’ aisle!

JoeySpecial · 17/04/2020 12:11

Well that paint that I ordered from Homebase and then cancelled has just arrived!

I ordered one tin in March and then another two tins about a week later.

Wonder if the 2nd order will come?!

I need to get DP to check his bank account to see if the money has come out or been refunded!

Homebase told me that it had been cancelled...

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 17/04/2020 12:27

Yes, our Aldi had masonry paint and chalk paint yesterday. No emulsion though.

MistyIsland · 17/04/2020 22:02

I went to the range today bloody dog escaped again so we needed a fence panel, I swear the little sod was Houdini in a past life the fence is now fixed thank you Dh

Got a fence panel and they had quite a good selection of paint, so I got some, and a few other craft bits and pieces for the kids.

Was very orderly and it’s the only shop I’ve been into where people were actually observing the social distancing rules 🤷‍♀️
