She is curled up next to me purring and hasn't left me alone all day.
I'm struggling to cope and her being there, purring, soft and cuddly helps a bit

Not very good as she is mainly black but you can hopefully see an ear and a white paw Smile

I have three of them and they are my babies.
They drive me mad, but I'd be on my own if it wasn't for them.

Helpmechangemymindsetplease · 02/04/2020 06:02

I am also grateful for ours 💖

Love my cats, but so lucky to have them at the moment.
They have their own Brexit stockpile of dry food that is coming in very handy!

Megan2018 · 02/04/2020 06:29

They save our sanity too. We have 2 (was 3 until very recently). Very calming

KatherineJaneway · 02/04/2020 06:32

They know when we need them, don't they. Not sure how I'd be coping without my two.

They’re brilliant aren’t they? 😻

Shadow01 · 02/04/2020 06:47

My 2 are definitely saving my sanity right now ❤️

SweetPetrichor · 02/04/2020 09:07

I wish I still had a cat! They're wonderful company.
The company of any pet right now is a god send. I have 14 tarantulas and while I imagine most people are horrified about them, watching them go about their business as normal is a great comfort.

Kernowgal · 02/04/2020 09:08

More photos please! We're trying to get a cat from a local rescue but they're all shut at the moment. Missing having one around.

Walkingtohealth · 02/04/2020 09:13

Awww she is gorgeous, are you okay? It’s a difficult time for people right now and lockdown is crap for mental health. I am lucky enough to have a small garden and am trying to sit out there even on non sunny days just for the fresh air and to listen to the birds.

Walkingtohealth · 02/04/2020 09:14

Here’s one of mine...

wheresmyhairytoe · 02/04/2020 09:20

I love mine too. I go and sit on my decking every day and he always jumps off his inside snoozing chair and just comes and sits near me. It's like he's saying "I'm here".

Catkin8 · 02/04/2020 09:21

@SweetPetrichor Wow, that is unusual! Can you tell them apart, and if so, have you named them? Do you handle them? I have so many questions! 🙂

SweetPetrichor · 02/04/2020 09:39

@Catkin8
Yeah, they are all named, all in their own individual enclosures (they'd eat each other given half a chance!). Most are different species so they all have different patterns and colours. Smile

I don't handle them normally. I've handled a few of them but only when I first got them and was moving them from their travel tub into their new home. They don't get anything out of handling and there is always the risk of a bite, no matter how calm they are. All of my tarantulas are what you call 'new world' species - meaning they are native to North, South and Central America. They don't have medically significant venom, but I still don't fancy being bitten! Many people keep 'old world' species, which do have medically significant venom but that's not my idea of a fun pet!

Eight of them are still babies, so they just look like little brown regular spiders - ranging from 0.5cm to 3cm in size. Most of my others are in the 6-8cm range so big but not huge yet - they are juveniles. I have one big girl, Isolde, who is around 15cm in legspan and she's one of the few I've held. She's a grammostola pulchra species and they are like gentle guinea pigs with eight legs! I have on other large-ish girl who is 10cm legspan but she's a 'special needs' tarantula because she has coordination issues. She needs a little extra care and love.

I was terrified of spiders less than a year ago but I'm completely in love with them now. It's so strange!

My son hit a cat just before the lockdown, so glad he had in finally.

I keep getting photos and will look forward to finally meeting him

He appears to of settled in really well. He needs nuetering which will have to wait so he's an indoor cat for the time being

Thank goodness for my cat
ofwarren · 02/04/2020 09:43

We have kittens. I'd been stuck in one room in isolation for 8 days and not seen them. I was so happy when I was allowed out again.

2 near neighbours share a cat, she has her 'official' home at one house, the second is her lounging home and I'm in the middle cos obviously she needs sustenance as she goes from one to the other.(they gave me little tins of tuna to facilitate this). I inherited this duty when I moved here 3 years ago. She is a very fat cat.
Since lockdown she's been self-isolating with her 'official' human.I'm sure that when this is over she'll emerge, sleeker and possibly healthier, for the whole process to begin again. Meanwhile, I've eaten her 'catfood'.Grin

Cats and dogs are such a blessing in our lives, we’ve got 2 cats and a dog and they drive me potty most days but I absolutely love them and they’re such good company, I wouldn’t be without them.
