How does click and collect work?

Finally I have a shopping slot. It's click and collect and I've never done this. What should I expect?
How does it work?
I'm trying to shield diabetic, asthmatic ds from covid infection. Are there any precautions I should take?

Depends where you are. Some places need you to go in, some like the asda near me have more of a car park set up.

You drive up, if all the bays are full you wait till one is available.
At ours atm someone comes out and asks your name, goes back and gets your order which is packed in crates and wheels it to the back of your car then moves away. You load it then wheel the crates back over to near the doorway then drive away.

Look on the store information page for the shop where you are due to collect.

I always do drive through; You pull up, type your code into a machine by the drivers window, someone wheels out your crates and you load into the boot.

Other branches only have in-store collection points.

DH did one tonight at Sainsbury’s. He said it was very clinical and well controlled. It was all done at a station in the car park. He had to drive up but stay in the car while the member of staff brought crates with the shopping in bags over. He wasn’t allowed to get out of the car until the member of staff had moved away and then he could load everything in the car and was asked to stack the crates at the side of the parking bay before driving away. So literally no contact with anyone else, DH was wearing gloves so binned those once he got back in the car.

Thank you very much.

It's a small store so I'm not sure what to expect so I'm sure I'll work it out.

If it's a small store they might just bring the bags out and put them in the boot for you. Ring them and ask!
