Will I be going to Canada mid June?

We’ve been told to wait by the travel agent. Its a wedding and no signs of it being cancelled yet.

I need to cancel my three weeks annual leave and the cat sitter. I wanted to do this as soon as possible.

Realistically, do you think it will happen? Ive gone off the whole idea😟

It seems very unlikely to me. But obviously it is hard to say.

MargotB7 · 01/04/2020 16:07

I don't think so but I"m no expert, sorry.

chipsandpeas · 01/04/2020 16:11

doubt it, im supposed to be going to canada in june as well and just really waiting on the flights being cancelled

heartsonacake · 01/04/2020 16:11

I wouldn’t have thought so, but your airline will likely tell you it’s going ahead until the very last second they have to tell you otherwise.

Bluntness100 · 01/04/2020 16:12

I’d be very surprised if our borders were open at this point to be honest.

DPotter · 01/04/2020 16:13

I would assume No unfortunately.
Trail Finders are cancelling holidays for 6 weeks away in mid May, so not looking good for June

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 01/04/2020 16:13

No chance

Helenshielding · 01/04/2020 16:16

No.

EachandEveryone · 01/04/2020 16:16

BA will refund up until the end of May, its been like that for weeks.

Even if you arrive in Canada, all eateries are closed except for take out.
All national parks are closed.
Screening for hotel rooms include asking if you’ve travelled from outside the country.
Plus no gatherings, in the province of Quebec I believe of more than two. Might be bigger in other provinces.
Some of the Maritime provinces have closed their borders.
I don’t see this being much fun.

whereshalligo · 01/04/2020 16:18

I'm pretty sure I read that Canadian borders were closed to non residents until end of June sorry

SouthCoastShell · 01/04/2020 16:22

We were due to fly out to Canada this week, our flights were cancelled but we were told that you could get a flight out there later but still be made to quarantine for 14 days when you get there. Sorry OP.

EachandEveryone · 01/04/2020 16:23

Why wont the travel agent just say that?

OP posts:
Carrie7469 · 01/04/2020 16:23

No

Wistfulthinking · 01/04/2020 16:23

We have a trip booked at that time and we're not expecting to go. It is to visit family with most of our party holding citizenship too. We think even if flights were on, we'd probably need to self-isolate on arrival and avoid elderly family which would render the trip pointless. We haven't cancelled yet, but for us, it is flights only and we think they will cancel us.

heartsonacake · 01/04/2020 16:27

Why wont the travel agent just say that?

Why would they? It’s not in their best interests. They’d end up with mass cancellations and more calls to rebook then they could manage.
