What is on your dream property wish list?

Mine are:
Sea view,
Kitchen dinner with large walk in pantry,
Library complete with leather wingback chairs.

The one in the next village we love that is next to the pub and opposite the pond/ford

We would need a spare £1,750,000

Squeakycheese · 01/04/2020 13:37

Detached,
not overlooked,
At least 4 bedrooms,
Large garden,
Big kitchen with a walk in larder,
Big driveway,
A library preferably with a spiral staircase Smile

FraughtwithGin · 01/04/2020 14:00

Detached, large garden surrounding it, preferably with a walled kitchen garden. Large kitchen. Dining room, sitting room, music room. Covered swimming pool (must be min. 12.5m long) with sauna area. Modern bathrooms and a lovely big, walk-in shower in the master en suite.
Quiet location, such as edge of village. Ability to hear church bells would be good. Large garage.

GiantKitten · 01/04/2020 14:03

Detached with windows all round so each room has double light
Large utility room with solid floor
Drive for at least 6 cars
Huge rambling garden (with matching gardener Wink)
Walkable to town centre
Nice neighbours

TheletterZ · 01/04/2020 14:13

@Squeakycheese what is the difference between a larder and a pantry - never understood that?

  • Detached and not overlooked
  • 4 bedrooms (ideally 5) and a separate study
  • Large outside space for the children with a tree house, climbing frame and a sunken trampoline
  • Beautiful gardens with lots of bees and butterflies
  • Play room or den where the kids can hang out (and DH and I can sit in a nice tidy lounge!)
  • Large drive with garage attached to the house so we can get into the car in the dry
  • Indoor pool and sauna
  • Walk-in utility and cloakroom by the back door.
TheletterZ · 01/04/2020 14:54

A tree house would be amazing, but for adults not children!

Anyone seen The Nest? That property over looking/hanging a loch is pretty impressive

TheletterZ · 01/04/2020 20:00

That is one of my favourite places in the world. I have a rightmove alert just to look at the properties and dream.

Squeakycheese · 02/04/2020 14:53

Hi TheletterZ, a larder was originally cold storage. Nowadays I think both words tend to mean dry storage? I tend to say larder because everyone else in my family does so maybe it's also a regional thing Smile

Lllot5 · 02/04/2020 15:02

Five beds, big kitchen/diner, study/library, big drive, gardens. Sea view.

willowpatterns · 02/04/2020 15:04

Detached, village or edge of small town
large sheltered garden with good soil
music room / rehearsal studio (musicians and dancers in family)
massive utility room
decent size hallway
proper conservatory - the sort you grow plants in
many garages / useful outbuildings / polytunnel
a chicken coop and run
within walking distance of a small supermarket

Thelnebriati · 02/04/2020 15:52

In the countryside and near the sea.
Walled orchard and kitchen garden.
Double glazed greenhouse with a fish farm (the fish feed the plants).
Field for the chickens.
Helipad for my transport.
Fit mechanic for the helicopter. I'll stop now.

Terralee · 02/04/2020 16:06

@Thelnebriati my younger colleague aged 22 hangs out with the local 'it crowd' & one male friend lives in his parents mansion- complete with helipad!!

I'd like a property Georgian or older but completely renovated...
Outdoor heated pool with weatherproof retractable glass surround.
Orangery (a large posh conservatory I believe)
Library (got so many books I need one)
Indoor cinema
Garages full of top range sports cars and a driver (fit obviously).

I thought this was a property porn thread Sad, and was looking forward to rubbing my thighs to pictures.

CoffeeRunner · 02/04/2020 16:32

Oooo - hold my coat! I'm off to browse Rightmove and pop back with links.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 02/04/2020 16:37

Thanks @CoffeeRunner, I'll just sit here and wait. Smile.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 02/04/2020 16:38

@BrassicaBabe, yes the house on The Nest, but somewhere with slightly better weather.

CoffeeRunner · 02/04/2020 16:45

This one is the local property I have my eye on. I know it would probably be a money pit but I just love the quirkiness of it. Feels like it has so much potential.

This one would be my choice if money were truly no option. I feel I wouldn't mind being in lockdown here quite so much Grin.

TheletterZ · 02/04/2020 16:51

Oh wow, the second house is an absolutely amazing location.

I love the location of The Nest house, we go up there to holiday, mostly wonderful Victorian villas with the odd modern house. I think I would go with period.

I dream of a house on the edge of a village. To the north are hills / mountains (beyond the expansive garden of course). To the east is a wooded area with a small stream one that doesn't flood where primroses grow in the springtime. To the south is the sea, with views of distant islands. To the west is the village, within walking distance and with a large enough shop(s) that we can always get veg, milk etc.

In the garden is a veg plot and polytunnel, maybe some ducks, and a secluded sanctuary space for meditation / yoga. Enough space for parking obviously, and a shed for dh's rubbish.

Inside an L-shaped lounge / diner / kitchen so you can sit in the lounge and not see the washing up, but can flow from space to space. A snug, lined with books. An accessible downstairs bedroom / dressing room / shower room (huge shower room) for when I get old. The shower room would look out onto the secluded woodland so I could shower with squirrels, deer, birds...

Upstairs a couple of guest bedrooms and a bathroom. And an office where I can send dh.

There would have to be a utility room by the kitchen.

Strangely enough despite years of looking I've not yet found it on any house sale website. tbh I think I'd be gutted if I did because I'd never be able to afford it. In my sleepless 4am moments I design the layout and the décor...

venusandmars · 02/04/2020 18:01

Oh, and there might be a wee cottage in the garden for the resident housekeeper and gardener Grin

Fedupandpoor · 02/04/2020 18:02

Cob
On the beach
Plenty of land for a farm
Glass ceiling
Off grid
Warm climate

No idea if all those things are possible in one property!

MuddyPuddlesAndPrettyBubbles · 02/04/2020 18:07

When we say money is no object are we just talking about the purchase, or do we have imaginary money to pay staff to do the upkeep? That makes a lot of difference.

MarshaBradyo · 02/04/2020 18:10

Zone two
Detached
Near a park
Big garden
Library / studio / laundry
6 bed
Pebble drive
Studio
West facing garden
Georgian
