Any suggestions for a substitute for cream?

I did have two pots of double cream, both to be used for specific meals but dd1 unfortunately knocked one out of the fridge the other day :(

I don't need anything from the shops yet so wondered if anyone could suggest a possible alternative? It's to go in a curry.

If not, we'll have something else for tea tonight :)

Coconut milk
Plain yoghurt
Philadelphia

Combine 57 grams of melted butter with 178 ml of milk and mix thoroughly to make 237 ml of cream. You can also add a tablespoon (8 grams) of flour to thicken the liquid, especially if you’re using low-fat milk.

Mayonnaise.

@middleager I think I have some coconut milk in the pantry! Thank you!

@Pelleas mayo? Really?

I'll have to write these down for future reference too, much appreciated!

Yes, mayo is a surprisingly adequate substitute for cream in savoury dishes!

Useful thread in these times - I'm noting all the suggestions and sleep's recipe too - you never know what you might not be able to find these days!

That's interesting, it'd never have occurred to me to try it. We have a jar of mayo none of is overly keen on so maybe I should use that and save the coconut milk for another time.
