Why are people turning into complete ranting idiots?

I think I’m going to have to come off the internet for the rest of this lockdown. They’re everywhere!

There have been some attempted car break-ins in my local area recently. Posts have been shared on FB. Commenters are calling it attempted murder Hmm because they could spread Covid19 in the course of their criminal acts.

Agree OP.

I'm having a couple of days off Facebook, Twitter, whatsapp etc.

Our local resilience group tipped me over the edge last night. We had one person having a pint in the garden for his fiftieth birthday. Someone else going mental and saying they were phoning the police as the wind was blowing in the direction of their house.

Someone else requesting all cats be locked in from now on as they were spreading it. This turned into maybe we need all the rabbits shot immediately as well. And someone think of the beetles.

A lot of people I think are going slightly temporarily insane with worry, fear, anxiety and stress, with the uncertainty. And I think a certain sector of society is thinking that anarchy now rules.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 01/04/2020 12:36

the wind was blowing in the direction of their house.

Shock Grin

Insane!!

Come off FB.

My life has improved immeasurably in the last week since I deactivated my account.

custodiandiscount · 01/04/2020 12:39

It's fucking ridiculous. The amount of absolute shite going around is unbelievable. I'm seriously considering only Youtubes of kittens and penguins for the next 2 weeks.

slipperywhensparticus · 01/04/2020 12:42

I've left so many Facebook groups that have gone batshit crazy it ranges from

I saw you walking with your two children when gatherings of two or more is forbidden

Cat and dog food isnt essential they are luxury items just shoot the fucking things they are spreading it anyway

Calling kids crotch goblins

Calling parents breeders (single parents support group)

Abusing anyone who does not conform to the tinfoil hat point of view (or simply asks how is this spread by 5G I mean really?)

NastyOldBag · 01/04/2020 12:43

People have gone completely nuts. I had a photo of myself and my 2dc posted on a local FB page, tagging the local police force as I was flouting the rules. I was walking with my kids, carrying 2 bags of shopping and about 200m from my house. My Dh is a key worker who is working over 12 hours a day at the moment, I can’t leave my kids at home alone (7and 4) so I have to take them to the shop with me. There were about 20 comments of people telling me that I’ll be directly responsible if people die from this illness (while I’m only having to go out and having to shop with my dc as my Dh is doing free overtime trying to stop people dying and putting his health at risk).

swishthecat · 01/04/2020 12:49

NastyOldBag that is vile. What the hell is wrong with these people?

ChicChicChicChiclana · 01/04/2020 12:49

On my local FB group, usually a very friendly buy/sell group, some of us were discussing the virus and symptoms and talking about whether we'd had it. We all agreed it was frustrating there was no antibody test as we'd like to know, but really we don't know, and so are abiding by all rules of the lockdown.

Then someone comes on and basically tries to shut the discussion down! She says "It is dangerous to talk about this" FFS!

Jupiters · 01/04/2020 12:54

This is why I've left Twitter this week.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 01/04/2020 16:03

*Come off FB.i

My life has improved immeasurably in the last week since I deactivated my account.

I’m going to for now. I only stay on it for my business. I get almost all my customers through FB. But while I’m not working I don’t need to be on it.

@NastyOldBag that’s horrible!! I hope you put them all right back into their SJW boxes! Angry I’m so cross for you.

She says "It is dangerous to talk about this" FFS!

What did she think was going to happen?? Confused

It’s frying me. I’m not sure who all these people think they’re telling off for going outside but presumably they aren’t sitting reading my auntie’s ranty Facebook posts and now reconsidering their actions as a result. Grin

bluewafflewithmayo · 01/04/2020 17:25

It’s just as bonkers on the Coronavirus forum on here. Lots of :( and people saying they’re terrified. One fruitcake was saying we would have 100% mortality eventually.

NastyOldBag · 01/04/2020 17:44

To be fair, life does have a 100% mortality eventually

midsomermurderess · 01/04/2020 18:07

The Coronavirus thread here is hysterical and idiotic. Who are these people and how the hell are they going to be raising up children? Mad and dumb, the lot of them.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 01/04/2020 18:13

I've never had any social media, ever. Even when I was 14 and everyone had MSN, or whatever came before that. I have whatsapp but use it just for texting, and obviously I have MN. I'm considering signing up to Facebook just for a laugh.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 01/04/2020 23:48

It's not a laugh. On our village chat, which is 95% helpful in normal times, a local has declared that LED streetlights are emitting 5g and debarking nearby trees.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 02/04/2020 10:51

Why is that not a laugh?

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 03/04/2020 00:41

Sign up and find out. A cesspool of logorrhea.
