My fantasy woman is a farmer’s wife. She’s about 50 with two grown up children . One lives in an annexe with partner and baby on the farm and helps their dad with farm stuff. Other still lives at home but again works on the farm.

She has a small sideline Business which normally happens online that she does each day, maybe 2-3 hours. Maybe some kind of tutoring , on skype. She is surrounded by fields, with hills not too far away.
The surrounding countryside is stunning and she can take a short walk into town for essentials.
She can also take rambles in the countryside around the farm.
There’s horses and sheep.
There’s a farm shop and cafe on the farm which employs other people but she helps out in on a regular basis. The cafe is closed now but the farm shop is open and she helps with deliveries.

Life hasn’t changed that much for her and her family. Except she can’t see her parents and siblings but they do catch up on skype.

I’d love to be that person right now.

Who are you then?

Eireni · 01/04/2020 06:16

I don’t get it sorry? Are you a lonely farmer?

Bringringbring12 · 01/04/2020 06:24

The most peculiar thread I think I have ever come across

Gettingo · 01/04/2020 06:28

I think someone with a horse. She just goes out riding every day in the forest and barely sees anyone. She's not the sociable type anyway, and, yeah, used to growing her own food.

CountFosco · 01/04/2020 06:36

I grew up on a farm. My brother still runs the business. His wife is a GP. She's rather busy at work the moment.

Farms don't support a farmer, his wife and their two adult children anymore and haven't done for about 50 years.

Dowser, it'll be another month until The Archers scriptwriters can incorporate the virus into the story - so your ideal woman (who is almost Pat Archer) still has a few weeks of normal life at Bridge Farm.

Oh sorry, this is who you wish you were who wouldn’t be as impacted by Covid19? Sorry didn’t get that Blush

I’m pretty happy with my life as it is tbh, but a lottery win would always be nice. If I’m going to have a fantasy it may as well be extravagant. I’ll have a massive euro millions win please. I’ll have a lovely house with ridiculously large garden to while away time in, spa-style swimming pool and outdoor yoga deck overlooking a koi pond, library with a dedicated reading couch overlooking the flower garden, a massive desk to study at for whichever OU degree I’ve decided to study just for pleasure, and basement cinema room. I’ll be able to keep paying my various staff full pay if they have to be off work. My multiple charitable trusts will be continuing to help vulnerable people & animals during the crisis & holding all their meetings online, and I’ll be making donations to other charities/organisations and having my PA (working from home) organise shopping for local people who can’t get out & I’ll pay for it :-)

Dowser · 01/04/2020 06:53

Ah, I haven’t explained myself very well.
Half asleep but I’ll try again.
I’m presuming a lot of people are struggling in this crisis situation .maybe I’m wrong about that but it’s the feeling I’m picking up from posts on here and other social media.
So in my fantasy, the person I think is doing Quite well, whose life hasn’t changed too much Is the person I’ve described above.

I wondered what other people’s opinions were, of a person whose life hasn’t changed too much considering the situation we’ve found ourselves in right now.

Dowser, I get it! In my fantasy I am also a farmer's wife. I bake a lot of cakes and have an Aga. It's weird because I'm a vegetarian and would not want to raise and slaughter animals. I also don't like the outdoors or dirt v much. But that's the point of a fantasy, those who don't get it, it's not real life! It's your alternative life if you weren't the person you are.

Dowser · 01/04/2020 10:37

Yes , no staples last night As I was nodding off I was wondering whose life had changed little right now and who I’d like to swap with.
Too late to write it then, I wrote it when half asleep and orobably didn’t explain too well.

I wondered if the Simon CowellS and richard bransons of the world Aren’t seeing too much of a change in their luxury villas/ holiday homes/ islands. I’m imagining them doing a lot of business over the phone , so more time for getting out on the jetski on their private beach. I could be wrong of course.
