Multiple colposcopies, how many have you had?

I've just been called for my 3rd colposcopy.
Im obviously very glad for the early screening and not NHS bashing at all, but how many is reasonable? I find them very uncomfortable, painful really, not to mention the stress and worry of it all. My cervix is apparently in an awkward place so the procedure usually involves contorting on the bed Sad
Has anyone ever had a cervicectomy electively or is it only available if cancer is present?

In the two-year period when my cervix was plotting to kill me, I had six colposcopies, twelve smears and two loop excisions (LLETZ). I am so grateful that it was all available, though, or I might not be here today. Hope yours goes OK - they're not my idea of a fun afternoon out!

Shitting hell @spiderlight have you a cervix left after all that, you poor thing!
What happened to stop it all, did the excisions get all the dodgy cells gone in the end, and it all just stopped?

Yes - they came back after the first loop excision so he took a much wider margin after the second and all's been well ever since. I suspect my cervix looks like a lace doily now though!

You poor thing, you've really been through it! How long have you been clear now?

Yes horrible. I keep going back for checks as they get inconclusive results🤨

I had my first at 25 and I had low grade mild cells (I don’t know the technical terms) then had to have one every 6 months for 2 years to see if my body would get rid of the cells. At my 5th one she said my cervix was clear.

Had a smear 2 years after my last colposcopy and had cells again. Sent for another colposcopy and I had high grade severe cells covering most of my cervix and then I had Lletz treatment.

Had a smear about 6 months ago and it came back clear.
