Just in case anyone's looking for one, they're reduced to £55 and there is a promotion for 40% off which runs out today

Got one for DD and one for DS at 26.99 each. Thanks very much for posting.

I'm tempted for the kids now at the 26.99 price but 16 gb is really going to be a nightmare isn't it? We've got some old ones in cupboards unused because of the low storage issues. Think it would be better waiting for Christmas and getting the 32 gb?

user3274826 · 31/03/2020 23:50

@Feduppluckingmychinhairs how did you get 2 with the offer?

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 01/04/2020 00:28

OK I’ve just had a looong and convoluted conversation with amazon customer services where they finally informed me that it’s for customers who have previously bought a fire 8 HD that is now out of warranty. You will have received an email with the promo code. I bought mine in May last year so I’m not eligible. Sad I fancied a yellow one.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 01/04/2020 00:29

@user3274826 the offer ended at midnight so I think you’ve missed the boat.

user3274826 · 01/04/2020 00:31

@Juan it was working for me, and I've only ever bought 7's.

user3274826 · 01/04/2020 00:33

Yeah... I was dithering right up until the last few seconds and didn't go for it in the end. The really cheap £26.99 ones were with adverts and low storage. I'd rather have the 8 inch 32gb in the kids, so will wait until Black Friday and Christmas. In the meantime, I'm going to dig out the old ones from older siblings and see if I can get any re-set and working.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 01/04/2020 00:40

Oh that’s interesting that you have a 7. Maybe it’s for both devices as long as out of warranty. I actually have another kindle fire which I’m certain is older than the one I got in May but I can’t find it on my orders so maybe I bought it in Argos.

user3274826 · 01/04/2020 00:49

If you go on your account settings and look at content and devices, then click devices it lists all the Amazon products you have ever registered on your account. I thought the last one I bought a few years ago was an 8, but apparently it was a 7 HD, and I've had several other 7's apparently. Can't remember them all, think some were replacements from kids ones or when I've gone 'oh wow, £26 is a bargain' I'll get one for no reason Grin.

I'm currently charging up an old dusty one, and remembering one of the reasons why it stopped getting used. The charging port is temperamental.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 01/04/2020 00:52

Yes charging ports are an issue I recall being a problem too!! Maybe it’s best I didn’t get another for £26.99. Even if it was yellow Grin

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 01/04/2020 00:57

Just checked, the other one was bought in 2016 so we’ll put if warranty but it’s a 7 so don’t think I’m eligible. This is what customer service said

Well out of warranty

Feduppluckingmychinhairs · 01/04/2020 14:58

The ones I bought before were 7s and well out of warranty. Seems to be hit and miss who is eligible

Today I've finished re-setting the old dusty, cracked screen Kindle Fire 7 I found to stop the kids fighting over my iPad. Yes the charging port is temperamental, but unlike the iPad I've had for less time, it isn't now so out of date I can't put new apps on it. Huge pro for Amazon Kindle Fires for not expiring their software updates for old models like Apple do Star.

I have one but didn't receive the email.
