Cancelling child benefit- how long?

DH earns over the CB threshold so I cancelled our child benefit about 6 weeks ago, had a confirmation email but I've still been paid it twice.
Thought there would be some sort of lag but I don't want it spanning another tax year if I can help it.
Is this the norm when others have cancelled? Don't want to hassle them at the min unless I have to!

I cancelled mine at the start of March and got a letter about 4 days later.

I told them when I wanted it stopped (gave next payment date) and got a letter a few days later.

I didn't get an email, it was a postal letter (brown envelope)

Thanks for the replies. Seems strange I've had no letter. Will get in touch with them. Don't want to have to repay lots of money next year!

As its unusual circumstances (in the world) I would just make sure whatever they pay is moved to a safe place so when it catches up you can pay it back
